A Scientific Approach to Off Leash ControlTarheel Canine
This article discusses the mindset handlers and trainers must have as they progress down the road to off leash control in obedience and protection work. The neuroscience of habit creation, and the practical aspects of how to create habits are discussed. With the proper mindset and goals in mind one can create reliable off leash control without needing to trick our dogs into performing!
This article published in Working Dog Magazine discusses training protocols for drive neutrality for police dog, and how training drive neutrality can substantially increase the deployability and reduce liability for your K9 unit. Drive capping and drive neutrality are discussed as well as training sequences for teaching these skills along with some scenario based training set ups.
Component Training in Obedience for Police K9sTarheel Canine
Obedience doesn't have to be synonymous with corrections (punishment) but rather means having a dog that reliably performs his trained behaviors, whether that be tracking, detection or traditional obedience behaviors. In this article in K9 Cop, Jerry Bradshaw discusses how to deconstruct your training so that you can apply both reward for specific behaviors in an efficient way, and learn how and when to apply corrections to create attentive and reliable behaviors and spend more time rewarding your dog for being correct then nagging him for incorrect responses. This is a must read for K9 Cops!
Your dog doesn't listen to you
You need to train a new Puppy
Your dog barks uncontrollably
Your Dog is pulling on the leash
Your Dog is aggressive
Your Dog is chewing things he shouldn't
Your Dog is digging all the time
Your Dog is Jumping up
You're frustrated with your dog
You may even regret getting your Dog
You're worried you might have to give up your Dog because of behavior problems you can't handle
You feel helpless to control your dog
This presentation was given at the IACP conference in September 2016 and focuses in on the principles of drive capping and drive neutrality, as well as how these principles can be applied to pet training with reactive dogs. Unfortunately to fit it all in the videos had to be cut out, however if you wish to have a full copy including videos please mail a 2GB thumb drive to Jerry at Tarheel Canine.

This presentation is from around 8 years back, yet the content is relevant even for today. I had made this presentation long back as a one day workshop for my fellow CXOs & Directors on the Board of my then company. As the HR Head, I was trying to challenge the status quo & I must admit, it was a very successful workshop since I ended up transforming that company eventually.
The content is borrowed from all my gurus, mentors & coaches in life so most of this belongs to them. I am sharing it for the benefit of all my fellow HR colleagues in CXO Roles handling change in their companies as a key theme.............All the best....
The Day I Realized I Was Not Yet An Agile Coach : Presented by Sylvain MaheoGuild .
I remember that morning, 6 or 7 years ago. I had been practicing Agile for a couple of years and I had decided to update my LinkedIn profile. I opened my profile, edited my headline and replaced “Scrum Master” with “Agile Coach”.
That was a lie. But I didn’t know it at that time. I really believed I had become a coach. In reality I was a consultant, a trainer, sometimes a mentor.
A few years later I decided to go back to school -a coaching school- and it changed my life.
In this talk, I shared my personal journey to become an (Agile) Coach and shared what I’ve learned along the way:
• What is the difference between consulting, training, coaching and why we should care?
• Why by calling ourselves coaches we are not doing any good to the coach profession?
• What can we do about it?
• How did I become a coach?
• What are my coaching tools?
• Does your organization really need a coach?

Artificial intelligence (AI) offers new opportunities to radically reinvent the way we do business. This study explores how CEOs and top decision makers around the world are responding to the transformative potential of AI.
The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.

Leader of the pack cannot afford to Falter
Giving a dog space to run
around is not enough.
One has to take the dog out for
walks regularly such that
he learns from you.
Do we, should we, would we or
Are we doing so

• We are all aware that dogs need enough space to run around, get
exercise and feel happy. And people who don’t have space, feel guilty
of keeping a dog confined in apartments.
• Yet only providing space alone does not make a dog happy and
psychologically healthy.*
4. Excalibre- where we discover our
inherent potential. Cell 98188 12102
4
• Dogs need to walk with their leader, even if they have enough space to
run around.
• Just providing them a big area, terrace, or a yard, for him and without
taking him for walk regularly, dog owners miss out on the most critical
aspect of the ownership : Demonstrating Leadership, through daily
walks.
• Walking for dogs is their basic primal instinct, its in their DNA. Animals
that usually live in packs walk for hours where in the pack is guided by
a leader who is responsible for major decision making, as where, when
and how to go or do.

If I take my dog out for walks properly,
the dog would be more obedient and
happy.
During these walks, he learns to accept
my leadership, follows me, and obeys
my instructions.
He learns all this by practice, instinct,
which over a time frame, becomes a
habit.
And no wonder, he at first grudgingly
accepts me as a leader, and then looks
forward to accompanying me, for those
walks.

Leaders like me create enough space
for my team, and are ardent students
of the participatory leadership style.
Yet fail to walk the talk and lead my
pack effectively.
Why?
Simple : team members want me to
personally demonstrate how I will lead
them to the next level, through self
exemplification, not self gratification
Not simply by giving them more space*.
I thus need to walk them regularly,
guiding them on path ahead and
reinforcing regularly who the leader
is.

• Reflect about the meetings wherein I address and discuss important
issues.
• Who leads the pack.
• Is there a leader or is it simply a bunch of people making noise and
taking discussions in all directions.
• Notice its same – as the owners out with their dogs for a walk, where
the dogs are pulling them and leading them.

Important for me is to walk and lead my pack and prove my leadership
skills.
I may be analytical, intelligent, great problem solver, the best
Management grad, I still need to know on how to show who is the leader
subtly, in the board room and across organization.

• Do I take initiative and show the big
picture to my team mates.
• Do I avoid taking the charismatic
leadership role.
• Am I a leader who gives a lot of
space, but don’t tell where to go,
what to do, and what not to do.
• Do I experience challenges from my
direct subordinates.
• Do I align organizational goals with
team aspirations.
• Do I take my team out for regular
walks and ensure that I lead them.
Examine my natural leadership style.

Your boss, board members, stakeholders do not want
to see you taking a bunch of dogs out for a walk and
each one of them pushing and pulling you in
different directions.
You will agree, it isn't a pleasant sight.
Think about it and act now.
