MODULE
The LE-140XTQ benefits from the use of synchronous
signalling on the MultiNet backbone. This provides
the capability of extending the network over long
ranges, as well as including a large number of hubs.
For maximum reliability, the LE-140XTQ includes
extensive diagnostic capabilities, and provides four
different diagnostic indications for each port - normal
link operation, receive link failure, partitioning active,
and transmit link failure (10BaseT Plus mode only).
Additional LEDs for the module indicate when data is
being received through a port, when a collision has
occurred, when an active bus connection is
established, and when a secondary bus connection
is established.
The module can also be set in a standalone “bus
free” mode by disconnecting it from the internal
segments and connecting the ports together,
providing a 10 port independent repeater.
The LE-140XTQ is manageable under MultiMan,
LANNET’s network management system. This allows
control, monitoring and administration of the module
from the remote management station.
The LE-140XTQ is offered as an X-type module.
Straight cables can be used to connect transceivers
and hubs. One cross over is needed to connect to
another LE-140XTQ, LE-140XTN, LE-140XT, LE-40XT,
or LE-80XT module.

DESCRIPTION
The LE-140XTQ is a ten-port Ethernet port switching
plug-in module for use with the MultiNet modular,
smart hubs. It complies with IEEE 802.3 10BaseT
specifications.
The LE-140XTQ ports are equipped with shielded
RJ45 or Telco connectors, compatible with UTP or
STP cabling
The LE 140XTQ provides full repeater functionality.
The 10 ports can be connected to any one of the
four Ethernet segments of the MultiNet. Each
segment can be monitored for data received through
the port and for collision occurrences. The LE-
140XTQ has an inter-hub range of up to 160 meters
(525 feet) over standard UTP cable, such as AT&T
24 AWG DIW.
The LE-140XTQ has two modes of operation. In the
standard 10BaseT mode, the LE-140XTQ provides
auto-partitioning and receive link test. When the
enhanced 10BaseT Plus mode is selected, the
LE-140XTQ also provides detection of transmit link
failure.
Port redundancy is available. Ports 1 and 2 can be
selected by the user to operate independently or to
function as redundant ports to each other, providing
automatic switch-over in case of partition or link
failure, provided that they are connected to the same
bus.
Segment redundancy is also provided. A second
Ethernet segment can be designated as a backup to
the main segment, with automatic switch-over. When
the primary segment fails, the module connected to
that segment automatically defaults to the secondary
segment.
