Objectives:
 To comprehend, analyse and react to an oral text.
 To use the internet appropriately in order to look for information about a specific topic.
 To be able to summarise information by paraphrasing it and communicating it orally.
 To organise ideas clearly, coherently and convincingly, about a specific topic.
 To communicate clearly using appropriate language, register and style.
 To present and transmit information based on an audience.
During your English B course, you will be required to take part in at least 3 interactive
oral activities that are based on the “core” topics in the programme:
 Communication and Media
 Global Issues
 Social Relationships
Although you will work in groups, you will be given an individual mark for your
performance.
Your second Interactive Oral Activity will be based on a listening input: "First World
Problems Rap"
Presentation Day: Wednesday, 21 October.
Grouping: 2-3 students
Timing: 4-6 minutes
Assessment Rubric: On
Total Score: 20 pts
Misbehaviour and timing issues will be deducted from your overall score.
Section 1 : Understanding and analysing the

1. Watch The First World Problems Rap available on https://www.youtube.com/watch?

Section 2 : Choosing our Interactive Oral
Activity
Here is a list of Interactive Oral Activities based on "The First World Problems Rap".
Choose one to prepare:
 A debate on one of the following topics:
a. "Zach Katz's rap should be taken seriously"
b. "An IB student who has taken part of the CAS programme cannot identify
with the First World problems."
c. "Adopting the IB Learner Profile is the best way to dismiss First World problems"
 A class discussion evaluating the problems presented in the rap. Which ones
do or do not apply to the students' circumstances and why?
 An interview where students play celebrities or fictional characters tormented
by First World problems.
 A role-play between a therapist and a patient suffering from First World problems.
The objective is to look for solutions to the problems.
 A localised pastiche (an imitation or adaptation of the rap, for example
adding local setting, details, objects, issues, names, and introduction)
 A role play where the host of a popular Third World TV talk show meets a celebrity
who complains about First World problems.
Section 3 : Preparing our IOA
Write an outline of your interactive oral. When you present your activity in front of the class, you
should not read from a sheet of paper or memorise a great deal of text.

Interactive Oral Activity II M English B: Standard Level Name: ______________________________________________ Class: IIM ____ Date: October, 2015 Objectives:  To comprehend, analyse and react to an oral text.  To use the internet appropriately in order to look for information about a specific topic.  To be able to summarise information by paraphrasing it and communicating it orally.  To organise ideas clearly, coherently and convincingly, about a specific topic.  To communicate clearly using appropriate language, register and style.  To present and transmit information based on an audience. During your English B course, you will be required to take part in at least 3 interactive oral activities that are based on the “core” topics in the programme:  Communication and Media  Global Issues  Social Relationships Although you will work in groups, you will be given an individual mark for your performance. Your second Interactive Oral Activity will be based on a listening input: "First World Problems Rap" Presentation Day: Wednesday, 21 October. Grouping: 2-3 students Timing: 4-6 minutes Assessment Rubric: On Total Score: 20 pts Misbehaviour and timing issues will be deducted from your overall score.

Read the lyrics attached. Answer the following questions: • How familiar are you with the ideas presented in the rap? Why/why not? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Section 2 : Choosing our Interactive Oral Activity Here is a list of Interactive Oral Activities based on "The First World Problems Rap". Choose one to prepare:  A debate on one of the following topics: a. "Zach Katz's rap should be taken seriously" b. "An IB student who has taken part of the CAS programme cannot identify with the First World problems." c. "Adopting the IB Learner Profile is the best way to dismiss First World problems"  A class discussion evaluating the problems presented in the rap. Which ones do or do not apply to the students' circumstances and why?  An interview where students play celebrities or fictional characters tormented by First World problems.  A role-play between a therapist and a patient suffering from First World problems. The objective is to look for solutions to the problems.  A localised pastiche (an imitation or adaptation of the rap, for example adding local setting, details, objects, issues, names, and introduction)  A role play where the host of a popular Third World TV talk show meets a celebrity who complains about First World problems.
