(Earning Lawfully)
Meaning of Kasb-e-Halal:
Kasb-e-Halal means lawful, legal and Riba free earning.
Definition of Kasb-e-Halal:
It is defined as all provisions and earnings that are Riba free, legal and lawful
under the legitimation and having religious acceptance. It is also refers to the
earnings which are according to the economic principles of Islam.
O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not
follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
(Al-baqarah-ayat-168).

O ye who believe! Devour not usury, doubled and multiplied; but fear Allah; that
ye may (really) prosper.
Aal-`Imraan -

RIZQ-E-HALAL

4
The Prophet Muhammad
he replied:

was asked what type of earning was best, and

“ A man‟s work with his hands and every (lawful) business transaction.”
Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 846
Two Important Instructions of the Holy Quran about Lawful Earnings:
(i)

Special Message for Believers:
Allah Almighty says:

“O you who believe (in Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism) Eat of lawful
things which we have provided you with, and be grateful to Allah, if it is indeed
He whom you worship.”

(ii)

Special Message for Prophets:
Allah Almighty says:

“O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Tayyibat [all kinds of Halal foods which
Allah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats,
vegetables, fruits, etc.] and do righteous Deeds. Verily I am all knower what you
do.

(Islamic Teachings on Lawful Earning)
(In Light of the Quran)

And we have made for you therein means of living and for those for whom
you are not providers.

And [He has subjected] whatever He multiplied for you on the earth of varying
colors. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who remember.

And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned,
for indeed, it is grave disobedience. And indeed do the devils inspire their allies

[among men] to dispute with you. And if you were to obey them, indeed, you
would be associators [of others with Him].

(Lawful and unlawful earning)

So eat of that [meat] upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned, if
you are believers in His verses.

Al-An'am, Ayah 118)

RIZQ-E-HALAL

15
Say, "I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden
to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh
of swine - for indeed, it is impure - or it be [that slaughtered in] disobedience,
dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither
desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], then indeed, your Lord is Forgiving and
Merciful."

(Surah 6. Al-An'am, Ayah 145)

And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to
extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through
it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be
grateful.

Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which
has been dedicated to other than Allah , and [those animals] killed by strangling or
by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from
RIZQ-E-HALAL

16
which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its
death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you
seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those
who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but
fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor
upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by
severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and
Merciful.

They ask you, [O Muhammad], what has been made lawful for them. Say,
"Lawful for you are [all] good foods and [game caught by] what you have trained
of hunting animals which you train as Allah has taught you. So eat of what they
catch for you, and mention the name of Allah upon it, and fear Allah." Indeed,
Allah is swift in account.

18
And Allah presents an example: a city which was safe and secure, its provision
coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of Allah .
So Allah made it taste the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been
doing.

And there had certainly come to them a Messenger from among themselves,
but they denied him; so punishment overtook them while they were wrongdoers.
.
Then eat of what Allah has provided for you [which is] lawful and good.
And be grateful for the favor of Allah , if it is [indeed] Him that you worship.

O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on]
stone alters [to other than Allah ], and divining arrows are but defilement from the
work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.

  • 4. (Earning Lawfully) Meaning of Kasb-e-Halal: Kasb-e-Halal means lawful, legal and Riba free earning. Definition of Kasb-e-Halal: It is defined as all provisions and earnings that are Riba free, legal and lawful under the legitimation and having religious acceptance. It is also refers to the earnings which are according to the economic principles of Islam. O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. (Al-baqarah-ayat-168). O ye who believe! Devour not usury, doubled and multiplied; but fear Allah; that ye may (really) prosper. Aal-`Imraan - RIZQ-E-HALAL 4
  • 5. The Prophet Muhammad he replied: was asked what type of earning was best, and “ A man‟s work with his hands and every (lawful) business transaction.” Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 846 Two Important Instructions of the Holy Quran about Lawful Earnings: (i) Special Message for Believers: Allah Almighty says: “O you who believe (in Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism) Eat of lawful things which we have provided you with, and be grateful to Allah, if it is indeed He whom you worship.” (ii) Special Message for Prophets: Allah Almighty says: “O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Tayyibat [all kinds of Halal foods which Allah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits, etc.] and do righteous Deeds. Verily I am all knower what you do. RIZQ-E-HALAL 5
  • 6. (Islamic Teachings on Lawful Earning) (In Light of the Quran) And we have made for you therein means of living and for those for whom you are not providers. And [He has subjected] whatever He multiplied for you on the earth of varying colors. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who remember. RIZQ-E-HALAL 6

  • 15. (Lawful and unlawful earning) So eat of that [meat] upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned, if you are believers in His verses. Al-An'am, Ayah 118) RIZQ-E-HALAL 15
  • 16. Say, "I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine - for indeed, it is impure - or it be [that slaughtered in] disobedience, dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], then indeed, your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful." (Surah 6. Al-An'am, Ayah 145) And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful. Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah , and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from RIZQ-E-HALAL 16

That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. They ask you, [O Muhammad], what has been made lawful for them. Say, "Lawful for you are [all] good foods and [game caught by] what you have trained of hunting animals which you train as Allah has taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and mention the name of Allah upon it, and fear Allah." Indeed, Allah is swift in account. AL-MAEDA 3,4 RIZQ-E-HALAL 17

  • 19. And Allah presents an example: a city which was safe and secure, its provision coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of Allah . So Allah made it taste the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been doing. And there had certainly come to them a Messenger from among themselves, but they denied him; so punishment overtook them while they were wrongdoers. . Then eat of what Allah has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And be grateful for the favor of Allah , if it is [indeed] Him that you worship. • 20. O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah ], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.
