The document discusses various ways that the Lawbore website can help law students at City Law School improve their prospects. It summarizes sections on the Lawbore site related to news, topic guides, databases, events, careers and possible improvements. The document emphasizes that Lawbore is a valuable resource that provides important information, opportunities and research tools to help students succeed in their legal studies and career.
This document provides an overview of the process by which an idea becomes established in the UK legal system and sources for finding information about each stage, including:
1) An initial ministerial speech or green paper outlining the idea.
2) A white paper with more detailed proposals that may be subject to consultation.
3) Introduction of a bill in Parliament that can be followed on their website.
4) An act of Parliament if passed, available on legislation websites along with any subsequent court judgments interpreting the act.
Secondary sources like newspapers, journals, and textbooks may discuss and debate the issue throughout the process.
The document summarizes the origins and purposes of several international organizations:
- The Organisation of African Unity (OAU) was established in 1963 and was replaced by the African Union in 2002 to promote cooperation and accelerate integration among African states.
- The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) was formed in 1960 in response to nationalism in the oil industry and works to set oil prices and production quotas.
- The Organization of American States (OAS) was founded in 1948 and works to promote cooperation, defend democracy, and protect human rights across North and South America.
The legal brief summarizes a case where Jane Smith alleges she was sexually assaulted by Akindoyin Akinshipe. The defense claims the act was consensual. The prosecution aims to establish Akinshipe's predisposition to assault by showing he introduced himself as "DMX", and evidence collection found items showing an obsession with the rapper DMX, whose lyrics promote violence against women. The prosecution argues this collection helps prove Akinshipe's character for aggression and likelihood to commit the crime, though it does not definitively prove guilt. They must show the evidence is relevant under Michigan evidence law.
The Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) sued the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) alleging violations of the Sherman Act. The AIAW claimed the NCAA used its monopoly power over college sports to take control of women's athletics, engaging in unlawful and exclusionary conduct. While the NCAA argued its nonprofit status shielded such claims, the court ruled per curiam that the NCAA's pricing and distribution practices were exclusionary and in violation of the Sherman Act.

This document summarizes a paper presented on modern trends in legal education and training in Nigeria. It identifies several challenges with the current system, including large class sizes that discourage active participation, lack of practical skills training, and outdated teaching methods. The document recommends reforms like incorporating more practical skills courses, simulations, and smaller seminar groups to encourage student engagement, in line with approaches used in other countries. Adopting student-centered learning and modern teaching methods could help improve the quality of legal education in Nigeria.
Learnmore is an online legal portal that provides tutorials and learning materials to assist new law students. It covers six topic categories - Moots, Research, Writing, Exams, Newbies, and Careers - with subsections that delve deeper into each topic. The sections aim to help students better understand their upcoming studies and provide guidance on daunting aspects like exams, gaining career experience, and standing out. While the information is generally useful, the Exams section could focus more on law exams specifically. The website is easy to navigate but could highlight important points more clearly and consistently color code subsections.
Presentation at Open Nottingham on my experience of sharing OERs with academics in Kabul, and Jamie Grace from Derby talking about openness in law education with reference to his experience at Derby.
Two one-day workshops on open educational resources (OERs) were held in Kabul, Afghanistan for 25 academics, 6 students, and 3 researchers from universities and an NGO. The workshops explored reusing and creating OERs for curriculum design. Challenges included slow download speeds and incompatible formats. Participants expressed enthusiasm for OERs and said they would search for, modify, and create OERs. Lessons for OER producers include providing materials in multiple formats and embedding licenses to overcome barriers when searching from locations like Afghanistan.
Learnmore is an online resource that provides useful information to law students. It educates students on skills needed for law school like using sources in arguments and preparing for exams. The Newbies section gives first years information on debates, tutorials, and remembering cases. It also discusses work experience and career paths as a solicitor or barrister. While thorough, some sections could provide more specific examples and guidance, such as including an annotated sample essay. Overall, Learnmore equips students with essential knowledge, but further improvements could enhance its support of newcomers.

This document discusses strategies for engaging law students through the use of visual and multimodal teaching approaches. It notes that students have grown accustomed to visual media and short attention spans. The document advocates for partnerships between academics and librarians to embed information literacy skills, incorporating more visual elements like videos and diagrams into teaching, and providing realistic experiential learning opportunities. Examples mentioned include legal research coloring books, Lego criminal law videos, and virtual law firms to simulate practice. The goal is to move beyond solely textual instruction and better prepare students for research and practice demands.
Learnmore is a section of Lawbore that provides online tutorials, videos and materials to help law students learn important skills. It is divided into six categories: exams, introductions to law, writing, mooting, research and careers. The materials are interactive and make learning more enjoyable than continuous paragraphs of text. However, some of the videos are very long and Learnmore does not include quizzes or ways to test understanding of the materials. Overall, Learnmore is a useful resource but could be improved with more concise content and assessment features.

Rafael discussed E-Learning as an innovative approach to problem solving and information literacy for critical thinking in advancing science and technology in the Pacific. He discussed learning in relation to the development of knowledge and understanding. The Internet appears to be reshaping teaching, learning and research. Therefore it is important that academic libraries take a leading role to support web-based e-learning by creating and developing new services and linking them to the various programmes in universities and research organisations. Electronic delivery can change the way faculty and students, organisations and communities access, create and use information, and libraries will continue to play a central role in linking all to quality information sources.

How to Manage Reception Report in Odoo 17Celine George
A business may deal with both sales and purchases occasionally. They buy things from vendors and then sell them to their customers. Such dealings can be confusing at times. Because multiple clients may inquire about the same product at the same time, after purchasing those products, customers must be assigned to them. Odoo has a tool called Reception Report that can be used to complete this assignment. By enabling this, a reception report comes automatically after confirming a receipt, from which we can assign products to orders.

The section referred to as topic guides is extremely useful for all law students. This is because it’s
-Informative
-Easy to understand
-Easy to access
For first year law students is extremely handy as most students are getting to grips with
understand law therefore this section acts as an aid to break down what happens in the lectures
and tutorials as they can go quite fast!
Also students can use this tool as a way of independent or extra learning.
Topic guides has several links which include, core, electives, research and careers therefore
students don’t have to go through masses of information to find what they are looking for
Also there’s a section called ‘new this month’ which is another helpful feature.
-Quick links to important things such as cases, reforms, research, acts, pupillages and many more!
-These are important things, which ALL law students need to be involved in, and Lawbore allows
you to do just that
6. IMPROVEMENT’S…
One vital improvement to the Lawbore website could be the breaking down the
technical language used enabling new law students to understand the core
material.
For example each section of the core material could have an explanation
besides its title entailing what it includes.
This is evident as follows,
7. Constitutional- Constitutional law aims to explore how the law is distributed
and how the government uses its power to enforce this law in society.
Contract- Contract law aims to study the implications when two or more parties
engage in a legal binding contract.
English Legal system – This aims to give the basic understanding to the law
system used in England but also in most commonwealth countries.
Equity and Trust –Equity refers to removing the application of law from the
courts. Trust refers to when an individual has placed in another individual
involving their personal affairs.
EU- EU law aims to look at the legal system that is used in the European
Union’s member states.
Land Property – Property law aims to look at the various forms of ownership
within varies types of property.
Legal Method- This refers to the techniques that are primarily used in law and
what to use when it’s appropriate.
Tort- Tort primarily means when an individual is in breach of civil duty which is
owed to someone else.
9. BLOGS
Lawbore provides A vast variety of blog links, it’s variety, like Dicey’s theory
regarding Parliamentary sovereign power; has a positive dimension as well as
a negative dimension. Whilst there are some more prestigious Blogs such as
‘Lawyer Watch’ there are others that are dare we say more ‘amateur’.
However in a more broad spectrum the positive and negative elements stand
to be that although Blogs are a great way of keeping up to date with the
current going on within the Law world, and no doubt provide a fundamental
source of critic and analysis; they should not however be the first point of
call for legal research. Luckily Lawbore provides a far more extensive range
of different means of research sources …
10. DATABASES
Lawbore also provides us

unobtainable access to a
wide array of online Law

13. EVENTS CALENDAR
Networking, knowing the right people
=Improving your prospects in the
Law World…
Lawbore events calendar is always jam
packed with Law related events such
as the Law fair and interesting
lectures usually on topics that are in
hot debate, providing you with the
opportunity to extend your Insight of
Law beyond your lectures
By informing students of the
opportunities available, they are also
building on the C.V’s for the future.
And like much of Lawbore it’s quick
and easy to use
15. The Learnmore aspect of the site provides some invaluable
information regarding career, pro bono and work placement
opportunities guiding you closely in how to boost your CV
that will ultimately boost your chances of making it in the Law
world.
However we felt if any this was the section of the site which
there is most potential for further improvements….
16. What the resource could improve on is to divide the website into 3 sections for yr 1/2/3.
For yr1’s- volunteering, law fairs, internships, links to resources to help understand law better
For yr2’s- involvement of mooting, advice on what electives to choose, applications for
pupillages, LPC
This section could provide quick links
For 1ys’s give full detail about what mooting is, the benefits of volunteering doing internships
ect.
One section, which could be added, which is probably going to benefit yr2/3 more is ‘What
route to take after your LLB?’
- Previous students journeys
- Details about Bar vocational and LPC
- Comments from current lawyers
- Explain how law can open up many opportunities
- Show a variety of people who have studied law and don’t work in the law area
- Helps student to decide
- Links to career advice
- Further study e.g Master’s
17. Year 1 – Aim for 2:1/1st (First year grades is what employers look at if you are applying
for an internships)
Events – Go to law events at City and other Universities (For e.g. UCL, LSE, KCL and so
on), simply go on to the relevant university website and look at their event section). The
Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in Russel Sq. It also gives you an opportunity to
network as well .
Go to insight days – For e.g. Jones Day Insight days
Summer Holidays – Use this time to increase your extra curricula activities. (For e.g. work
for charities) Do work experience.
Year 2 – Aim for 2:1/1st
Aim to get an internship this year.
Go abroad to another University – Why? Because with the world globalising employers are
looking for potential employees who have a global outlook.
Summer holiday – Do something that really makes you stand out for example run a
marathon.
Year 3 – Aim for 2:1/1st – Graduation OR Masters – Why? Because and increasing
amount of employers are no longer simply looking for a graduate with a broad range of
skills – They are looking for people who specialise.
Training Contract (LPC – 2 years)
18. POSSIBLE ADDITIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SITE
Another section, which could be added, is a
blog or linked Twitter feed on the Law
society
-What’s going on
-The opportunities available
-Keeping everyone informed
