Las Fallas is a public holiday celebrated in Valencia, Spain from March 15-19 each year. The festival has been celebrated since 1934 and features large figures made of materials like cardboard and wood called "ninots." During Las Fallas, firecracker displays called "Mascletás" begin on March 1st and a procession called "La Ofrenda" takes place on March 17th-18th where people carry flower branches to honor the Virgin Mary, who is depicted by a 14 meter tall statue.
