Jumping for joy
Objective: Practise variety of jumping skills and patterns
Equipment: Jump ropes, task cards
Concepts
Jump - Land on both legs (can take off on 1 or both legs)
Hop - Take off on 1 leg and land on same leg
Leap – Take off on one leg, land on the other leg
Skip – Hop on alternate legs
Different jumps
Bell jump: feet together, jumping fwd and bwd over rope
Straddle jump: feet apart and then together
Scissor jump : feet splitting fwd bwd and then together
X jump : straddle jump, cross feet in middle and back to straddle
Variations
Have students make different shapes, letters and numbers with their jump ropes
and explore jumping, hopping and leaping over it
do only rope swings, over head, without bouncing
Now try large swings with soft bounces

Bend It, Stretch It
Objective: Standing warm up for every body part
First, bend it then stretch it
Neck front and sideways
Hi Fi palm, pull fingers back with other hand
Rotate wrists, move up and down, Write names
Shrug shoulders - alternate, rotations, arms up and down
Bend waist front and sideways
Sit, bend forward and bend to the side in straddle sitting
Sit, pull up knees and hug yourself tightly

Explain that stretching should be done after the body is warmed up
Explain that stretching improves range of movement (ROM)
ROM is important for many sports such as cricket, volleyball, soccer

Place animal antic task cards around the activity area face down next to cones. Turn
over card as you reach it and perform that animal movement to the next cone.

Set up
Set up cones around the activity area such that
half are lying down and half are standing
Game play:
Make 2 teams. One team to make standing cones
Sleeping and other to make sleeping cones standing.
On whistle, 2 teams move with different locomoter
skills mentioned below to achieve the objective
Jump and change cones using hand
Hop and change cones using foot
Frog jump and change cones using elbows
Leap and change cones using one foot

Game helps in improving agility and strength of legs

Objective: To complete the challenge first.
Equipment : Hurdles and cones
Set up
Make 4 – 5 teams, each team forms a line
Set up 1 hurdle and 4 cones in a line for each team
Challenge
On whistle, first player in team, runs, jumps
over the hurdle, runs zig zag around the cones
turns around on the last cone, and comes back
the same way, gives hi fi to next player in line
and goes and stands at the end of line
They stop when all players in a team has completed the
run

Objective: First team to finish challenge, wins
Equipment : Bean bag
Set up
Make 4 – 5 teams, each team forms a line
Give 1 bean bag to first player in each team
Challenge
On whistle, first player in team, passes bean bag over his head to
player behind, this continues till end of line
Last player will then pass bean bag from below between
legs of player in front, this continues to end of line
Variation 1 :Last player will run to the front of the line and then pass bean bag from between legs to
player behind. This continues till the first player comes again in the front.
Variation 2: Last player will run zig zag between the players to the front of the line and pass bean bag
between legs to player behind. Over and under can be alternated for each pass
