This document summarizes a study on solid waste generation from the construction of office buildings for Nepal Telecom in Nepal. The study examined waste produced at three construction sites in Kathmandu, Kaski, and Rupandehi districts from 2010 to 2013. It found that major waste streams included concrete, reinforcement bars, wood, and bricks. Construction methods were outdated and waste was poorly managed. Factors contributing to waste included lack of planning, training, monitoring, and government rules. While theoretical understanding of waste management existed, practical implementation was lacking. Principal wastes could be reused or recycled, though potential for reduction was not fully addressed. This study provides a baseline for policies to improve construction waste management in Nepal.
