Dr. Raju M. Mathew
KNOWLEDGE ALONE MATTERS
 Without Knowledge, there is no Science or Technology or
Human Progress. Without Knowledge, Education Withers.
Knowledge gives meaning and relevance to Information or
  Data.
 Knowledge is the outcome of human thinking. Knowledge is
structured on the pattern of thinking structure. Concepts are
the building blocs of Knowledge. All Domains of Knowledge
  have a common structure.
 When Knowledge is put into action or practice, information is
generated, though a bundle of Data or Information never makes
  any Knowledge.
 All religions are founded on Knowledge and Teaching.
However, Knowledge is a product for consumption and
production and not for ‘worshipping’. When ‘Knowledge is
made Divine or Holy, nobody can put it into practical
applications and the net result is ‘Mass Ignorance’ or ‘Mass
Illiteracy’. Over 80% of the humanity lives in Ignorance and
  Illiteracy.
READNG, WRITING AND KNOWLEDGE
 Knowledge originated even before the origin of writing and
reading. Letters are symbols having meaning attributed.
All that is read or written need not be ‘Knowledge’.
 What is forming in the mind of a great teacher in a
structured and logical way is coming out in the form of
words or teaching or knowledge that are written later,
  probably by his disciples.
 Great teachers are equated with God or treated as the
mouth pieces of the God by the hero-worshipping
disciples. With their effective communication skills, what
they felt was made as a set of religious truths or beliefs.
 Literacy or education is not an essential condition for the
creation or transfer of Knowledge. Great scholars are there
even among illiterate or uneducated men and women.
Educational qualifications are not the true reflection of
Skills, Expertise or Knowledge of a person. So we can have
‘Doctors’ (Ph. D.s) without expertise or knowledge.
THINKING PATTERN AND KNOWLEDGE
               STRUCTURE
 The Vedas in India originated about 5000 years ago; the Bible –
New and Old Testaments between 2000 to 4000 years ago, the
Quran about 1400 years ago; Modern Science about 100 years ago.
Even in the 21st century, in spite of the
racial, cultural, geographical or political differences, people can
  understand them.
 The simple reason is that the thinking pattern of the Sages who
taught Vedas about 5000 years ago or of Jesus Christ who taught
the New Commandments about 2000 years ago or of Prophet
Mohammad who taught Quran about 1400 years ago or of the
Modern Scientists of the 21st century are almost same.
 The structure of Knowledge created in different periods in
diverse domains remain almost same that too in tune with our
logical thinking pattern. Knowledge structure is non-linear and
dynamic for every concept is multi-dimensional and growing to
  assimilate new meaning.
KNOWMATICS
 Though Knowledge and Mathematics are as old as the human
civilization, Knowmatics--the Mathematics of Knowledge to
study the nature, structure, representation and communication
of Knowledge is a of a very recent origin.
 Knowmatics is the consequence of the failure of Information
Technology to process and mange Knowledge and make
knowledge accessible to the entire humanity, in spite of the
existence of several Data banks, Information Systems, ever
growing world wide web and web technologies, including search
engines, social net works and etc.
 Knowmatics has been originated to process knowledge, to make
knowledge accessible world wide and thereby making all social
production processes Knowledge Intensive , facilitate the growth
of Knowledge Industries and augment the
production, consumption and marketing of Knowledge as a
  Value-added Product.
FOUNDATIONS OF KNOWMATICS
 Knowmatics is founded on Mathew’s Theories of
  Knowledge Consumption-Production Correlation
and Stage theory of Knowledge Consumption-
  Production Growth.
 These theories provided the methodological tools
to treat Knowledge as a commodity for
consumption, production and marketing both in
  quantitative and qualitative terms.
 Some Mathematicians attribute Pythagorean
Mathematics as the basis of Knowmatics. Further
research is needed to know more about the
  foundations of Knowmatics.
MULTI-DISCIPLINARY BASIS
 Since Knowmatics studies the
 nature, structure, production, consumption, tran
sfer and marketing of Knowledge, using
Mathematical and Engineering Tools, it is related
 to Epistemology, Psycholinguistics, Brain
 Research, Cognitive Science, Cybernetics and
 Networking, Education, Information
 Technology, Library Science and Communication
 Sciences.
KNOWLEDGE INDUSTRY
 Knowmatics facilitates the mass
  production, consumption, delivery and
marketing of value added and customized
  Knowledge Modules, Packages and Solutions
  globally.
 Knowmatics is the basis of Knowledge Industry
that relives men from the burden of searching in
the net or seeking knowledge in libraries or class
rooms and facilitates optimal consumption or
application of Knowledge in Education, Decision
Making, Professional Practices and all other
  social production processes.
FURTHER STUDY AND RESEARCH

 Since Knowmatics was originated in 2005 and developed
very recently, it needs further study and research due to its
  complex nature and greater impacts.
 The only authentic work on Knowmatics is : Mathew, R.M.
and Mathew, R.R. ‘Knowmatics- A New Revolution in
Higher Education’, Journal of the World Universities
  Forum, 4,1,2011:1-11.

recent works on Knowledge Industry, Knowledge
Banks, Knowledge Theories and Knowledge Production
