This document outlines the Knowledge for Development Partnership and its vision of establishing knowledge cities around the world. It discusses establishing 20 knowledge cities cooperating across 20 thematic areas by 2020. A knowledge city would focus on developing its economy and society through knowledge, innovation, and international marketing of knowledge services. The partnership aims to identify knowledge needs, develop strategies, and provide services to strengthen individual and organizational capacities. It proposes establishing the organization knowledge.city to facilitate knowledge partnerships, identify local needs, and create a global marketplace for knowledge services between cities and providers.
