A KITCHEN HOOD,
EXHAUST HOOD,
OR RANGE HOOD IS A
DEVICE CONTAINING A
MECHANICAL FAN THAT
HANGS ABOVE
THE STOVE OR COOKTOP
IN THE KITCHEN. IT
REMOVES AIRBORNE
GREASE, COMBUSTION
PRODUCTS, FUMES,
SMOKE, HEAT, AND
STEAM FROM THE AIR
BY EVACUATION OF THE
AIR AND FILTRATION.

 Double island
 Back self and proximity
 Pass over
 Eyebrow
 Oven hoods
 Condensate hoods
5
 What is a kitchen hood? At
its basic level, a kitchen
hood is made of a canopy, a
suction fan, and filters.
When you are cooking, all
the smoke, steam, grease
and smells will float
upwards into the canopy.
The suction fan will then
pull in the polluted air
from the canopy tray,
where it can be filtered
6
Advantages
 Improved Air Quality
 Stay Comfortable.
 Less Kitchen Odor
 An overhead range hood offers
additional lighting for food
preparation and cooking.
Disadvantages
 Cleaning: Kitchen chimneys suck up
odour and grease that result from
cooking. Due to this, the air filters of
the kitchen chimney become sticky
and dirty.
 Maintenance and repairs: One
other disadvantage of
kitchen chimney is that you need to
spend money on maintaining it.

 HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT EXTRACTION CAPACITY FOR YOUR NEW
HOOD
 a maximum air extraction capacity as close to 650 m3/h as possible,
 a boost function close to 1,000 m3/h,
 several and/or flexible speed levels starting at 250 m3/h.

EXHAUST
FAN
13
Exhaust fans pull odors, fumes, and
moisture from an area of the home,
venting them outdoors for removal.
The fan uses a motor to turn its
blades, which function to pull air out
of the space. The stale, humid, or
contaminated air is propelled
through the exhaust vent, exiting
the home.
1. WALL
MOUNTED
EXHAUST
FANS
 These type of fans are ideal if
you do not wish to spend a lot of
time devising and planning your
fan’s installation. A wall mounted
fan is installed to an external
wall of your house, and enables
the air inside to exit straight
through the fan itself.
14
2. EXTERIOR
EXHAUST
FANS
 Similar to wall-mounted fans,
these type of fans actually pull
out the air inside the building
and expel it outside. Exterior
exhaust fans are particularly
suited to those who do not want
any noise issues, since in this
case any noise emitted from the
fan would be outside of the
house.
15
3.CEILING
MOUNTED
EXHAUST
FANS
If you have an upstairs room in
need of better air flow, a ceiling
mounted fan is your best bet.
These are mounted to the ceiling
of a room, and they remove the
air inside through a hole in the
ceiling. As such, more often than
not a ceiling mounted fan makes
use of a hole in a building’s attic. 16
4. KITCHEN
EXHAUST
FANS
 These are a common addition in
many kitchens, since they are
very useful to have them
installed over the stove. Kitchen
exhaust fans are an excellent
way of removing the unavoidable
smells which are inherent in any
kitchen. They are also perfectly
suited to lessen the moisture
level of your kitchen.
17
5.
BATHROOM
EXHAUST
FANS
 After taking a bath or a shower,
moisture will inevitably
accumulate on the surface of
your bathroom tiles and mirrors.
Installing an exhaust fan in your
bathroom will ensure that the
moisture resulting from washing
will be easily eliminated.
Moreover, bathroom exhaust fans
are usually smaller and more
affordable than any other kind of
exhaust fan on the market.
18
6. INLINE
EXHAUST
FANS
 In case you wish to install a fan
in a room which is difficult to
ventilate, you should consider an
inline exhaust fan. These fans
are mounted in between the
ducting, so that the bad air is
expelled through the ducts.
19
7. EXHAUST
FANS
INCLUDING
LIGHTS
 Apart from doing what a
normal exhaust fan does, these
type of combo fans can also
lighten up your ventilated area.
This is a great way of making the
fan more innocuous, since it
would blend in the atmosphere
as if it was just another light
source.

Advantages
 Exhaust fans can quickly cool down
areas that have become too hot from
activities such as cooking or
showering.
 Exhaust fans remove excess
moisture that can damage the home.
 Exhaust fans improve indoor air
quality by removing humidity, odors,
and contaminants.
Disadvantages
 It does not work in definite weathers.
A fan works best when outdoor night
heat incline at minimum five degrees
lesser than the wanted inside
temperature. Ten or more degrees
are well.

  • 14. 1. WALL MOUNTED EXHAUST FANS  These type of fans are ideal if you do not wish to spend a lot of time devising and planning your fan’s installation. A wall mounted fan is installed to an external wall of your house, and enables the air inside to exit straight through the fan itself. 14
  • 15. 2. EXTERIOR EXHAUST FANS  Similar to wall-mounted fans, these type of fans actually pull out the air inside the building and expel it outside. Exterior exhaust fans are particularly suited to those who do not want any noise issues, since in this case any noise emitted from the fan would be outside of the house. 15
  • 16. 3.CEILING MOUNTED EXHAUST FANS If you have an upstairs room in need of better air flow, a ceiling mounted fan is your best bet. These are mounted to the ceiling of a room, and they remove the air inside through a hole in the ceiling. As such, more often than not a ceiling mounted fan makes use of a hole in a building’s attic. 16
  • 17. 4. KITCHEN EXHAUST FANS  These are a common addition in many kitchens, since they are very useful to have them installed over the stove.
