This document provides details relating to the proposed redevelopment of 45 Nightingale Lane in London from an industrial site into a residential development. The proposals include converting the existing Victorian villa on site into 13 residential units, and constructing 3 new mews houses at the rear. The design aims to enhance the conservation area while minimizing impacts. It reduces the building footprint by a third and uses modern materials on additions to minimize visual impact on the historic villa. The development would create a range of housing types and sizes while meeting high design and quality standards.
The schematic design progressed into design development of floor plans with the required spaces and adjacencies with attention to circulation and California building codes. Design decisions were evaluated and discussed with close coordination with Structure, Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC. Design solutions evolved into purposeful design opportunities that solidified the floor plan and elevations into Construction Documents for project milestones. The Construction Documents were a by-product of the interconnecting relationship between the Architectural and Structural BIM models. Careful attention to details in the design of rest rooms for local building codes are researched.

This document discusses using multiphase flow meters (MPFMs) to optimize operations at underground gas storage fields. It describes how MPFMs can monitor for liquid entrained in extracted gas, helping avoid overprocessing gas and reducing environmental impact. A new isokinetic sampling-based MPFM called VIS is presented as well-suited for gas storage applications due to its ability to measure low liquid levels accurately and operate bidirectionally for injection and withdrawal. Field testing results of a VIS installation are shown to validate the technology's effectiveness. More widespread adoption of MPFMs at gas storage sites is advocated to improve reservoir management.

IS 2062(2011) Seventh Revision: Hot rolled medium and high tensile structural...rajguptanitw
This Indian Standard (Seventh Revision) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft
finalized by the Wrought Steel Products Sectional Committee had been approved by the Metallurgical
Engineering Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1962 and revised in 1969, 1975, 1984, 1992, 1999 and 2006. While reviewing
this standard, in the light of experience gained during these years, the Committee decided to revise it to bring
in line with the present practices being followed by the Indian steel industry, both in the integrated as well as
secondary sectors. The Committee further decided to harmonize the standard with the overseas standards on
carbon-manganese and high strength low alloy (HSLA) of structural steels.
In this revision, the following changes have been made:
a) Title has been modified and the word ‘low’ has been deleted, keeping in view the grades of steel
contained in the standard. Requirements of low tensile structural steel are covered in IS 15911 : 2010
‘Structural steel (ordinary quality) — Specification’.
b) Amendment No. 1 has been incorporated with suitable modifications.
c) Number of basic grades has been changed to nine. A new grade of E275, in line with European Standard,
has been incorporated to take care of the requirements of medium tensile structural steels in the
construction segment. Moreover, for each grade two to four sub-qualities have been introduced,
depending upon the grade, where sub-qualities A, BR, B0 and C, in line with other international standards,
indicate the mode of killing and impact test requirements.
d) The clause on ‘Manufacture’ has been modified, where the scope is suitably widened to include
different steel making and rolling practices in vogue.
e) Silicon content of semi-killed steel has been clearly specified.
For all the tests specified in this standard (chemical/physical/others), the method as specified in relevant
ISO Standard may also be followed as an alternate method.
While revising the standard, assistance has been derived from the following international specifications:
ASTM A 36 : 2008 Specification for structural steel
ASTM A 572 : 2007 Specification for high-strength low-alloy columbium-vanadium structural steel
EN 10025-2 : 2004 Hot rolled products of structural steels
The composition of the Committee responsible for the formulation of this standard is given in Annex A.
For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value,
observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in accordance with
IS 2 : 1960 ‘Rules for rounding off numerical values (revised)’. The number of significant places retained in
the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
This document discusses advances in laser spectroscopy technology called OA-ICOS and its applications. Who could ever think of manufacturing metals and other materials like wood and plastic without the lathe machine? Since the lathe machine is an important tool used in the machining process, which is an integral process in the manufacturing technology, it is just fitting to learn about it.
Machining is one of the most important material removal methods in the technology of manufacturing. It is basically a collection of material working processes that involves other processes such as drilling, shaping, sawing, planning, reaming, and grinding among others. Machining is practically a part of the manufacture of all metals and other materials such as plastics, and wood as well. An important machine that is useful in machining is the lathe machine.
A lathe machine is generally used in metalworking, metal spinning, woodturning, and glassworking. The various operations that it can perform include the following: sanding, cutting, knurling, drilling, and deforming of tools that are employed in creating objects which have symmetry about the axis of rotation. Some of the most common products of the lathe machine are crankshafts, camshafts, table legs, bowls, and candlestick holders.
The first lathe machine that was ever developed was the two-person lathe machine which was designed by the Egyptians in about 1300 BC. Primarily, there are two things that are achieved in this lathe machine set-up. The first is the turning of the wood working piece manually by a rope; and the second is the cutting of shapes in the wood by the use of a sharp tool. As civilizations progressed, there have been constant modifications and improvements over the original two-person lathe machine, most importantly on the production of the rotary motion.
The production of the rotary motion therefore evolved according to the following procedures: the Egyptians manual turning by hand; the Romans addition of a turning bow; the introduction of the pedal in the Middle Ages; the use of the steam engines during the Industrial Revolution; the employment of individual electric motors in the 19th and mid 20th centuries; and the latest of which is the adaption of numerically controlled mechanisms in controlling the lathe machine.
For the lathe machine to function and perform its operations, various important parts are integrated together. These essentials parts make up the lathe machine.

Bollin Park is a housing development in Wilmslow, Cheshire being developed by David Wilson Homes and Jones Homes that will include over 200 luxury homes. The development needed to address stormwater run-off from the site. The designers were able to attenuate all the necessary storage in over-sized pipes within the estate roads, eliminating the need for offline storage tanks and ensuring valuable land was not used for this purpose. The stormwater drainage system included 700m of 1200mm diameter AquaSpira Composite Steel Reinforced pipes that had several benefits over traditional concrete pipes including fewer deliveries to site and a 30% reduction in excavation due to the smaller diameter.
The document summarizes the Wilshire Grand Redevelopment Project in Los Angeles, California. It describes the project as a 2.1 million square foot, 73-story tower containing 892 hotel rooms, 365,000 square feet of office space, and amenities. Construction highlights include the largest continuous concrete pour in February 2014 and structural design considerations for seismic performance. Pre-loading of upper bracing elements was done to protect the building from permanent deformation due to long-term effects like creep.

The initial brief for the project was an extension to the
existing library to cater for the increase in the number
of students at the school. With extra funding however,
the scope of the project increased to include offices and
workrooms, a seminar room as well as a 120 seat tiered
lecture theatre. The overall look of the project developed
from trying to get a modern building to sit within the
existing landscape of older buildings, this is why although
the building has its own unique identity, it still has a lot of
building materials in common with the existing buildings.

The project developed through the intention of creating
a world-class restaurant and bar that would happily
satisfy international guests and locals alike. The Kirketon
Dining Room & Bar is reminiscent of the timeless modern
restaurants and bars found in Paris & New York. Leather
upholstery, dark timber panelling, brass feature walls &
screens finished with a bronze patina, polished stucco
plaster & aged French wall mirrors are all key elements
that brought about a theatrical and ambient atmosphere.

provided spaces for gathering, as well as private zones
for the parents and kids. The central wing houses the
communal areas, incorporating the kitchen, living and
dining areas, with the western wing branching off one
side to provide a parents reteat and den. The eastern wing
houses the guest bedroom, laundry and garage, whilst
tucked away within the roof line are the kids bedroom and
rumpus.
The aesthetic style were dictated by the client’s love of
American Hamptons style architecture, incorporating a
weatherboard facade and shingled roof.

Situated on a large acre property, the clients brief for the
project involved designing a luxurious homestead that felt
like it had stood for a hundred years, but still maintained a
modern and comfortable way of living for himself and his
guests. With the intention of working from home the house
also contained offices and meeting areas, and a large
gallery, library and wine cellar to house his collections.
