Lean Startup and Lean UX give you powerful experiment driven methods to learn about customers, products and services. But you’re not dealing with test tubes and chemicals. You’re dealing with people.
The customer backlash from some of Facebook’s experiments last year shows that what companies can do doesn’t always match up with what customers think they should do. How do we keep doing valuable experiments without hurting our customers or damaging our reputation?
There’s a word you hear from experimental scientists you don’t often hear on product teams: Ethics.
How does your organisation help you create ethical experiments? Professional scientists have people & processes to help them deal with ethical issues — experiments pass both professional and institutional standards. Is anyone thinking about ethical standards inside your company — or is the issue being ignored completely?
A collection of online flashcard tools ranging from search engines to make-your-own to online social networks and wikis for sharing and discovering flashcards and tools. How do you get everybody in your company to understand your customers — especially if you’re not 100% certain yourself? You’ve got out of the building and talked to your customers, but how do you communicate and build on what you learned when you get back? We’ll show how to get the whole team involved in doing user research and building persona continuously. You’ll be introduced to a practical technique for integrating persona with lean approaches to product strategy and development.

How Singapore is Paving the Way for Global Smart CitiesSolace
Singapore is at the leading edge of global smart city initiatives and is a good deal of the way along the path to truly transforming the “city nation” for the benefit of its citizens and the redefinition of its government. Everything is on the table for reinvention in Singapore from smart transportation to smart energy to smart buildings to how its citizens receive smarter healthcare.
But what is a “smart city”? A smart city uses technology to deliver services, uses technology to reduce costs for service providers and uses technology to allow citizens to improve the running of the city. With sensors planted measuring everything from traffic to street lights, Singapore has deep insights into the lessons in IoT deployment and delivery on a truly large scale.
On October 13th, 2016 at the Internet of Things Developer meetup, Sumeet Puri presented a social and technical perspective on the Singapore smart cities initiative from two viewpoints: his role as an architect of several Singapore Smart City projects and as a resident of Singapore living through the transformation of his surroundings. Sumeet will share stories about Singapore’s efforts, and give us insights into the technical decisions needed to make this a reality. Sumeet will talk about architecting for IoT at scale, lessons learned from the Singapore Smart City Initiatives and the response of the public to these changes.
PPT created by Kathleen Curran on Traditional Symbols in Literature. The slide show will be accompanied by a lecture. Students will have a handout with the symbol listed. They will take notes on what the symbol represents as they view the slide show and listen to my lecture. The next step will be having students find these symbols in literature we read in class.
This PPT went through several revisions. I worked and worked on finding the best, most representative images wanting to create memorable pictures for my students. I shared the PPT with my mentor who commented on how much she enjoyed the presentation and how soothing it was. At that point I realized that adding music would improve the presentation. I searched through my entire library of music in an effort to find music that best fit the presentation. I struggled and finally learned how to add more than one song to a presentation. I am very proud of my final creation and believe my students will enjoy learning about symbols in literature as they view this Power Point presentation.
