According to statistical data from the National Science Foundation, federally and non-federally funded research and development to higher education has been on the decline since 2011. In 2014 all R&D expenditures in higher education topped out at just over $67B. FY2014 contract dollars were $445B, with 64% of that distributed by the Department of Defense. Making The Connection Workshop Presentation 11 28 2007guest7fa781
The role of social networking and cluster analysis in the nonprofit sector and how foundations can use this information to improve the effectiveness of their grantmaking.
The community-wide appreciative strategic planning initiative was designed around a positive inquiry approach that focuses on identifying strengths and opportunities to build commitment and momentum for change. It is based on the direct involvement of a broad representation of stakeholders and encourages participants to co-create the future of their organizations through collaboration, shared understanding and a commitment to actions. Usually the change that results from such process targets the implementation of short term and long-term strategic actions.
Over the past decade, the OMG Center for Collaborative Learning has served as the research and evaluation partner in more than a dozen foundation-supported efforts to improve college access and success outcomes, not just within individual programs, but also at a community level. COVID-19 has seriously tested the resiliency and sustainability of organisations, especially those in the nonprofit sector. The pandemic has further exacerbated their already precarious state and many Civil society organisations (CSOs) are under immense pressure to operate, survive, and thrive, while maintaining independence and continually generating funds to pursue planned operations and command strong recognition and influence.
They have been forced to adapt or to abandon the game, to face adversity through innovation or to fail while trying. Organisational and individual preparedness to manage change was tested also and many had to unlearn and relearn, to find new ways of working and developing resilience amidst the pandemic.
Since financing is a key pillar of organizational sustainability, I was invited to strengthen participants understanding, knowledge and practice in mobilizing resources more creatively. Aside the traditional channel of funding, there are 12 proven models of mobilizing resources for any civil society organisations in Africa, no matter its size, staff or strength.

The Forbes Funds Soundings Breakfast Session on the Wage and Compensation of ...GPNP
The Forbes Funds launched its first volume of the Soundings Report – a flash report that provides timely information, measures the “pulse” of the nonprofit sector, and provides quick and efficient data points to tell the story of a particular issue. This first issue looks at the Wage and Compensation of the Nonprofit Sector. In this study, we sought to answer a few questions: 1) are nonprofits contributing to the issue of escalating poverty by providing low wages with limited benefits; 2) are nonprofit employees able to retire with the type of wages and benefits they are receiving; and 3) are nonprofits still able to provide competitive compensation packages given the escalating cost of health care. Of the human services and community development organizations surveyed in this report, we found that over 50% of their employees are paid at or below 300% of the poverty level. On the positive note, 76% of agencies provide retirement benefits and 88% provide health coverage of some sort. What does this mean for your workplace and for the nonprofit community?

To reiterate, the Collaboration Database contains 670 collaborations Let’s look at the Collaboration Database and explore how to use it. [click] You have four ways to find profiles [click]: basic search [click], map search [click], detailed search [click]h, and keyword search. Let’s look at each of these and explore the information included in the database.
A larger circle means that more collaborations are based in that area. Click on a circle to bring up a list of collaborations based in that city. Click on a name to see a summary and a link to its narrative submitted for the Collaboration Prize.
The summary covers the collaboration’s Who, What, Where, When, and Why, as you can see from the fields shown here. All data contained in these summaries comes from the collaboration’s materials submitted for the Collaboration Prize. None of the data were verified independently for accuracy.
You can access the collaboration’s full, multipage narrative submitted for The Collaboration Prize. Some are saved as PDF files that you can view, download, or print.
Basic Search lets you browse collaborations by category. Click on a category to start. You can sort your results by clicking on the column headings. Then click on a name to see a summary.
In addition, keyword search is a type of search that looks for results in the collaboration database that contain one or more words specified by the user. For example, you could search on a city name, like “Cleveland,” or a phrase, like “kinship care.”
