September 4, 2022
Karlos Mancilla is proof that through
determination, acceptance and empathy, that
anyone can handle adversity. Born with cerebral
palsy, a medical condition that impacts his
mobility, he’s had to address a wide variety of
problems head on from a young age. As a child,
he fell in love with sports, since then, he’s told
himself that his goal is to be a sportscaster. Over
the years, he’s widened his horizons to working
in the TV/radio industry in general. Karlos wants
to use the platform of the media to inspire others
living with disabilities to pursue their own
aspirations.

For TV/radio employers who feel that they need
assistance in telling a compelling story within their
broadcast, I provide a unique perspective on how
to tell a story, whether that’s enhancing a
broadcast on the production side, or on the air
because I feel that a story to be respected and
given context, facts, and detail to enhance the

• Primary Content: I plan on starting a podcast as soon as this

considering posting my best calls when I get involved in play-
by-play.

YouTube. For the podcast promotion, it depends on how

KARLOS MANCILLA
You know when a sportscast feels dull and repetitive? Well, what I do is tell
compelling stories with a unique perspective. In fact, I attended Full Sail
University’s Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting where I created a portfolio
full of content and learned how to sell a story as an on-air talent and by
enhancing the story working behind the scenes.

  • 2. Karlos Mancilla is proof that through determination, acceptance and empathy, that anyone can handle adversity. Born with cerebral palsy, a medical condition that impacts his mobility, he’s had to address a wide variety of problems head on from a young age. As a child, he fell in love with sports, since then, he’s told himself that his goal is to be a sportscaster. Over the years, he’s widened his horizons to working in the TV/radio industry in general. In fact, I attended Full Sail University’s Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting where I created a portfolio full of content and learned how to sell a story as an on-air talent and by enhancing the story working behind the scenes.
