Julliette's Place (formerly Homeward Family Shelter) provides safe, short-term emergency shelter and support services to women and children fleeing violence and abuse. It offers food, housing, childcare, education programs, counseling, and help finding employment. The shelter was originally opened in 1990 and renamed after a former resident, Julliette, was murdered by her ex-partner in 1996. Services include nutrition classes, legal aid assistance, and children's activities, with the goal of helping residents transition to stability and independent living.

Participants will learn how volunteers, resources and monetary donations will be managed after a Fairfax County disaster. The workshop outlines how volunteer and donation management is collaborated between faith and community based groups, non-profit organizations, business and government during and after a disaster. • In June, 1990 original Homeward Family Shelter a previous resident
named Julliette. After she left the shelter, her previous ex-
partner/abuser found her and murdered her. Since, the incident
Homeward Family Shelter had changed it’s name memory of
Julliette.

• 3 child care programs nearby.
• Register children in nearby public schools/ along helping mothers
who wanted or need to go back to school.

• Lifestyle programs;(welfare, legal aid)
• Provided workshops/programs for cover letters and resumes.
• Programs offered every Tuesday & Thursday:
Women’s Program
(nutrition, mediation, how to build credit through YWCA/YMCA)
• Summer trips for families (Wonderland, Toronto’s Zoo, water
parks etc.) Also, having 2 placement students to assist.

• They would keep in touch to residents about 6 months, but after
they moved out there is not limit.

that attend to help keep in touch.

• Residents would call Central Family Intake. From there they will
suggest a shelter by the call centre ( not from their original
neighborhood)

• No waiting list.
• Unavailable rooms, families suggested to call Central Family Intake
and find an appropriate shelter to accommodate them.
