Gideon and his 300 men defeated the massive Midianite army with God's help. Some men from Ephraim complained that Gideon did not call them to battle, but Gideon humbly defused the situation. After pursuing the remaining Midianites, Gideon asked the cities of Succoth and Penuel for food and aid for his weary men, but they refused, doubting his victory. Gideon captured the Midianite kings Zebah and Zalmunna and defeated their 15,000 remaining men, returning from battle before sunrise with God granting another unlikely victory.
