VVB
Lead Electrical Engineer
• Lead Electrical Engineer Design for the refurbishment of the Main & Cargo Tunnels of Heathrow Airport for
VVB Engineering with BAM Nuttall Civil engineering contractor as principal contractor a contract valued at
£85 million by Heathrow Airport Ltd to undertake refurbishment work on the main and cargo access tunnels
to the airport which are the key routes into the airport for public and freight vehicles. Included are new
substations, LED tunnel lighting, switchgear, and fixed fire suppression pumps, axial & jet fans with soft start

Senior Engineer (M&E)
Capita Symonds Ltd - One of UK’s largest, multifaceted consultancies delivering property and infrastructure projects on a
national and international scale - Turnover £273 million - Employees 4,500 - Offices 63
Senior Engineer supervising design and construction for a Highways Agency Tunnel on the M25 motorway, covering M&E work
- Value £6 million - Act as Design Site Representative based onsite for 3 days per week, troubleshooting any issues delaying the
design to completion process and handover of M&E installations
♦ Devised a support system for tunnel roof mounted cable management system to ensure there would be no erosion
and corrosion over the 25+ year life expectancy of the materials - Fixed 2500+ points of attachments to the tunnel
roof supporting the cable management system and other tunnel mounted gear such as camera, sensors and public
address systems, which enabled swift installation of roof mounted equipment and reduced the costs by 30%
♦ Resolved an issue with a temporary diesel generator which kept tripping on overload and was critical to the forward
motion of construction - Detected that the switch operation was placing an artificial overload on the generator and
requested that the switching sequence be changed to a more gradual process - Generator took the load without
faltering or tripping allowing construction to progress and keep the multi-million pound project ahead of target
completion
♦ Harmonics in the internal system from tunnel lighting considered a possible danger with the possible need for
correction equipment - Engaged a respected company to investigate and they found that everything was within
Standard Engineering Recommendations levels - This initiative cost £8,000, but not having to purchase correction
equipment saved the company £50.000.

Plant Maintenance Engineer (M&E)
Cable & Wireless/NTL /Virgin Media (London, South and South West) - Provider of Broadband, Phone, Mobile and Business
Solutions - Annual Sales £1 billion - Employees 12,000
Senior Engineer M&E, managing maintenance and operation of M&E equipment including generators, UPSs, battery mains
power and HVAC servicing the electronics
♦ Successfully handled an issue remotely by telephone, through guiding a local security person to isolate a faulty unit
from the power system where a battery had burst and had acid on the floor which was threatening the service of a
UPS
♦ A standby generator that had cut in after a National Grid Power cut; failed to do it a second time when the main
power failed again shortly after coming back online, leaving the site in danger of crashing when the UPS batteries
went flat. Located a relay holding the generator off and reset it; the generator started and recovered the site that
was the backbone to email services throughout the UK - Saved loss of revenue from services failing to be delivered
and potential fines from users

the Turntable of the Triton FPSO TMS for use by Amerada Hess, Shell/Esso and Denimex
Lewis Offshore Limited (Stornaway, Isle of Lewis, Scotland - Continued
