The sun is the most important object in our solar system. It provides light and heat to Earth that allows plants to perform photosynthesis to grow and produce oxygen for humans to breathe. The sun is formed from hydrogen and helium, and its core temperature reaches 15 million degrees Celsius due to ongoing nuclear fusion. It is approximately 5 billion years old and will likely burn for another 5 billion years before exhausting its fuel.
