The more I learn the more I want to pass down knowledge and use it to inspire learners in the classroom. Learning is motivational, teaching provides me with the opportunity to motivate students and encourage life-long learning. My teaching philosophy is based on the belief that education can be used to create agents of change, which would alleviate many societal social problems and injustices. The purpose of education is to provide a solid framework for students to learn and grow in all different aspects of life even outside of the school setting. An average education prepares students to excel in the classroom. A satisfactory education promotes critical thinking so that students are prepared to compete in a global economy, every student can be taught. Therefore, when I teach instruction is centered on becoming rather than being. Learning is a life- long experience, it never ceases. Teaching is a craft that is perfected over time through dedicated service to learners who have a thirst for knowledge. As an educator it is my goal to strive for excellence in myself and my students at all times. I feel it is imperative to have challenging course material but to also meet the individual needs of students. In order for students to be successful they need to have the tools, support, and knowledge needed to do so. Differentiating instruction is key; students should be active participants in the learning process. For this reason, I believe that a variety of instructional media, course lectures, and activities should be utilized. It is also crucial that students have experience in the field when applicable. As a leader in the field of education, I will hold myself responsible for staying up to date with the latest research, technology, and instructional practices. In my interactions with students, I will strive to establish respectful relationships with all students. A mediocre instructor simply encourages learners to master course material. A good instructor who is passionate about learning also uses course material to uplift, inspire, and motivate learners to accomplish goals and great successes. Students should be taught to question beliefs by taking on a scientific way of thinking, and incorporating theory and fact into their everyday thought processes. I want students in my classroom to view their learning experiences as relevant, worthwhile, and inspiring. In conclusion, I will always strive to be a catalyst for others to pursue their dreams and a change agent as well.
