Joanne Ho introduces herself and her background. She has a PhD from the University of Washington where she did quantitative research on predicting weather-related natural disasters and developing financial strategies to mitigate damages. Her interdisciplinary background includes social sciences, natural sciences, and quantitative fields. She has industrial experience at the Red Cross in disaster preparedness, response, and GIS data management. She also has experience in software development, data mining, and project management. Currently, she is working on using technology from advertising to collect and disseminate real-time disaster needs and resource data and establishing organizational guidelines for multi-agency collaboration and situational management tailored to specific disasters.
