Distracted driving refers to any activity that takes a driver's attention away from operating a vehicle safely, such as talking on phones, eating, changing music, or using a navigation system. Texting while driving is especially dangerous as it involves taking eyes, hands, and mind off the road. In fact, texting drivers are 20 times more likely to crash than non-distracted drivers. Distracted driving causes over 421,000 injuries and 3,154 deaths annually. Various government agencies are working to increase awareness and pass laws against distracted driving.
