NEW – Directorate of Emergency Services to conduct Barrier Training
Tuesday
The Directorate of Emergency Services will be conducting barrier training at the
JBM-HH gates tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. See below for the schedule:
-Henderson Hall Annex Gate – 8 a.m.
-Henderson Hall Main Gate – 9 a.m.

-Fort McNair 2nd St. Gate - 11 a.m.

Twilight Tattoo performances run through August
Twilight Tattoo is an hour-long military pageant featuring Soldiers from the 3rd U.S.
Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own."
Experience a glimpse into American history through performances by The U.S. Army
Blues, vocalists from The U.S. Army Band Downrange, The Old Guard Fife and Drum
Corps, and The U.S. Army Drill Team.
This performance is free and open to the public. Due to budget constraints
unfortunately we will not have bleachers for Twilight Tattoo this year. Grass seating is
available, and we recommend you bring a blanket or lawn chairs. For more information

Performances through June 26 will be located at Summerall Field on the Fort Myer
portion of the joint base. Performances from July 10 through Aug. 28 will be located at

Sunday Brunch at Spates Community Club
Spates Community Club is now hosting Sunday Brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
every Sunday. Prices are $13.95 for adults, $11.95 for kids 6-12 and kids 5 and under eat
free. Menu items include Omelet Station, Waffle Bar, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage,

Emergency repairs to be made to Officers’ Club 50-yard pool
The 50-yard Swimming Pool at the Fort Myer Officers Club is closed for emergency
repairs through June 8. This closing will allow the replacement of the pool wall and the
reset of tiling around the 50-yard pool. During this time the 25-meter, Figure 8 and

3. wading pools will be operational daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. For additional

Aqua Aerobics to Resume at Zembiec Pool
Aqua aerobics classes will resume at the Maj Douglas A. Zembiec Pool beginning
Tuesday, June 11, not June 4 as previously announced. Deep water aqua aerobics
classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Deep water running classes
meet Wednesdays and Fridays 11 a.m. – noon. An aqua belt (limited supply available at
the pool), water bottle, and swimsuit are needed, and registration is not required. For

Army Substance Abuse Training for Civilians
The training listed below will be held on the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base Myer-

4. Henderson Hall in Building 230 from 1 to 2 p.m. Civilians are required to have two
hours of Army Substance Abuse training which would include Drug Free Workplace
(Substance Abuse Awareness) training and one hour of Suicide Awareness training.
If an employee participated in the Suicide Awareness Stand Down they will have
met the requirement for the year. If an employee did the Workplace Violence on line it
will also meet the yearly requirement. If anyone needs special accommodations or

Youth Sports & Fitness presents Challenger Sports British Soccer
Camp
Youth Sports and Fitness is offering two sessions of British Soccer this summer, June
24-28 and August 19-23, from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 5-16 yrs, 4 to 5:30 p.m. for ages 3-5
yrs. They are also offering one session of British Multi-Sports, July 29 to Aug. 2 from 9
a.m. to noon for ages 5-16 yrs.

Mobile DMV coming back to Fort Myer portion of JBM-HH
The JBM-HH Army Career and Alumni Program will sponsor the Virginia
Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) mobile unit on Monday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to 4
p.m. in the parking lot in front of the Bowling Center and Spates Community Club.
They will provide all or most services provided at a regular DMV office. The mobile
until provides JBM-HH Servicemembers, their Families, DoD civilians and retirees a
different and convenient venue exclusively without having to go to a regular office. For

Marine Corps Community Services offers a Welcome Aboard brief on Tuesday,
June 11, beginning at 8 a.m. in the Marine Club. Newcomers and their families are

Threat Awareness and Reporting Program (TARP) annual training will be held at the
Town Hall building on the Fort Myer portion of JBM-HH at 10 a.m. on the following

NEW – Roll up your sleeves, and give the gift of life – Your blood
needed!
The Armed Services Blood Program, specifically serving men and women of the
armed forces, will be on the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall
Thursday, June 13 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Community Center, Building 405. They
are looking for a few good volunteers to roll up their sleeves and donate blood.
The Armed Service Blood Program directly supplies donations to Walter Reed
National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Md., Fort Belvoir Community Hospital,
Malcolm Grow Medical Center (Joint Base Andrews, Md.), and Afghanistan.
Keep in mind that donating blood is purely voluntary.

Patient Education Classes
Adopt a healthy lifestyle -- attend a nutrition education class at Rader Clinic. The
Pre-diabetes class covers information on how to prevent or delay developing diabetes.
The Healthy Heart class covers lifestyle changes to improve high cholesterol and/or
high blood pressure. Upcoming Healthy Heart Class is set for June 13 at 1 pm or June
27 at 8:30 am; or Pre-diabetes Class on June 6 at 1 pm or June 20 at 8:30 am. Classes are

Army birthday cake cutting outside JBM-HH Dining Facility; Dining
Facility to open to all DoD ID cardholders June 14
In commemoration of the Army’s birthday JBM-HH will hold a cake cutting
ceremony outside the JBM-HH Dining Facility at 11:15 a.m. on June 14. The JBM/HH
dining facility will then open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate the 238th
birthday of the United States Army. The meal is open to all (active duty, reserve
component military personnel, retirees, DoD civilians and family members).

UFC 161 at the Marine Club

past the horses during this time.

Semper Fit Intramural Softball
Get your team together and sign up for Semper Fit’s intramural softball league!
Games are played select weekdays 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. starting June 25 on the Joint Base

This June 24 through 28 the JBM-HH Chapel will conduct Ecumenical Vacation Bible

The Chesty’s 5K Fun Run opens for registration today. Held Wednesday, June 26,
6:35 a.m., the fun run honors esteemed Marine Corps Lieutenant General Lewis Burwell
"Chesty" Puller, who was born on June 26, 1898. Registration is free, and tee-shirts will
be given to the first 150 registered participants. The top three male and female finishers

8. 2013 JBM-HH Army Ten Miler Qualifiers
Registration is now open for this year’s 2013 JBM-HH Army Ten Miler Team
Qualifiers. This year’s Army Ten Miler will be on Sunday, October 20. FMWR will be
hosting two ATM Qualifiers this summer for Active Duty Military only on Friday, June
28 and Friday, July 26. Each ATM Qualifier will be a 10K Race on Joint Base Myer-
Henderson Hall beginning at 6:35 am at the Myer Fitness Center, building 414. On-line
registration will close on the Wednesday prior to each date. Race Day registration will
be accepted on each date from 5:30 am to 6:15 am inside the Myer Fitness Center, bldg

Gettysburg Trip
The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that
ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Learn

Stroke and Turn Clinic
MCCS Semper Fit Aquatics offers a Stroke and Turn Clinic beginning July 9. The

NEW – Golf Tournament
On Sept. 27 Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Family and Morale, Welfare, and
Recreation will host the Inaugural SLICE of Summer Scramble golf tournament. The
tournament will be played on Fort Belvoir's Gunston Golf Course. The tournament
format will be four person teams playing a best ball scramble. Awards will be given
based on the group or teams overall score. There will also be special contests for
Longest Drive, Closest to Pin, Longest Putt, and Hole in One! Each person can register
with a buddy or as team of four. Registration is $70 per person which includes green
fees, cart, range bucket, $8 gift certificate to pro shop and BBQ meal package.

NEW – Army Birthday Run to affect traffic
The Department of the Army is celebrating the Army’s Birthday with a motivational
three-mile run Friday, June 14 at 6:45 a.m., beginning from Summerall Field parking lot.
The run will proceed through the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall
and Arlington National Cemetery and return to Summerall Field.
Summerall Field parking lot will be blocked by close of business on June 13.
Regiment and Caisson parking lot will be closed for VIP parking at 9 p.m. on June 13.
Expect traffic delays near Sheridan Avenue, McNair Road and Carpenter Road during
this event, especially at the CDC and the Commissary.
