New – AAFES’ Food Truck begins April 14
The Fort McNair Food Truck has arrived with spring. Today’s feature is North
Carolina Barbeque. See the complete menu and schedule at SlideShare at

Monday and Wednesday, the Truck will park at the Exchange Express
(Shoppette) on the Fort McNair portion of the joint base from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; On
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the truck will park in the vicinity of
Building 21 (Fort McNair) near the picnic area. The Food Truck will not work Fridays,
but the Fort McNair Officers Club will still serve lunch, and will continue the Soul Food
Buffet.
New – Smith Gym basketball court closed 4-9 p.m. today
The basketball court at Cpl. Terry L. Smith Gymnasium on the Henderson Hall portion of the
joint base will be closed today, Monday, April 14 from 4 to 9 p.m. to repair emergency lights.

The JBM-HH Army Career and Alumni Program is sponsoring a day with the
Department of Motor Vehicles mobile unit Tuesday, April 15, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the
parking lot across from the Bowling Center, off McNair Road, on the Fort Myer portion
of the joint base. Do everything you can do at the regular DMV at this mobile service
center.

New – Dining Facility serving hours for Easter weekend

2. Serving periods will change over the Easter Weekend/Curtailed Operations
April 18-21. During these four days, brunch will be served from 9 a.m. to noon for
$5.35; supper will be served from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and will be $6.55.

New – Metropolitan Opera Tenor to sing at Fort Myer Memorial Chapel
American tenor, John Easterlin, will sing as a soloist at three Protestant services
in April. Easterlin is scheduled to sing April 20 and 27, and all services will be at 10:30

New – Commissary celebrates ‘Earth Day’ with fair, fun, give-a-ways
The Commissary on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will have a
Commissary-style fair April 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with demonstrations, sampling of
new products and give-a-ways. There will also be a "Shop till You Drop" contest in the
store.
There will be first, second and third place prizes of $100, $50 and $25 value,
respectively for patrons with the highest total sales in a single check-out transaction that
day.

New – School Physical appointments available for scheduling
Rader Army Health Clinic is now scheduling appointments for 2014-2015 school
and sport physicals. These appointments are available for Tricare Prime children
assigned to Rader Pediatric Clinic. It is recommended to make the appointment early
because space is limited and appointments fill fast.

New – Rape Aggression Defense Systems workshops offered
Marine Corps Community Services offers self-defense workshops for
Department of Defense females age 12 and up. Workshops are held at Joint Base Myer-
Henderson Hall and at commands in the National Capital Region and are taught by

New – Marine Club set to close
The Marine Club on the Henderson Hall portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson
Hall will close after 57 years of service. Due to declining revenues and rising costs, the

3. club will close permanently at close of business April 25. Until then, Marine Club
weekday services will continue as described at www.mccshh.com/Club.html.
The MCCS Java Café, in the main MCX building is to expand its offerings to
include a salad topping bar and a hot sandwich menu and will expand with a
greater seating area adjacent the Café's present location.
New – National Drug Take-Back day is April 25
Time again to turn in your unwanted, unused and expired prescription and non-
prescription medications. The Army Substance Abuse Program office in coordination
with Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall community partners are sponsoring the “Take-
Back” day Friday, April 25 at the Fort Myer Commissary between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Note that intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted
due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens. Substances such as marijuana
or methamphetamines are not a part of this initiative and should not be placed in
collection containers.

New – 7th Annual Children’s Fair
To celebrate Month of the Military Child, Marine Corps Community Services
invites Department of Defense families to the 7th annual Children’s Fair on Saturday,
April 26, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Cpl. Terry L. Smith Gymnasium. The event will include
games, a toddler climbing area, face painting, a treasure hunt, moon bounces, door
prizes, and giveaways. The Long Branch Nature Center will exhibit, and a tennis club
will provide hands-on activities. The USO will provide free cotton candy, and a family-

Catholic Lent/Easter schedule
All services will be held at the Memorial Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of the
joint base unless otherwise stated.
April 14-16, Mass will be held at noon. There will not be noon Mass April 17-18.
Holy Week Triduum Liturgies:
April 17: Holy Thursday, Liturgy of the Lord’s Supper mass at 6 p.m. There will
be no other Mass that day.
April 18: Good Friday, Liturgy of Our Lord’s Passion and Death at 6 p.m. There
will be no other Mass that day.
April 19: Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil Mass at 7:30 p.m.

5. April 20: Solemn Easter Sunday Mass at 9 a.m.
Easter Sunrise Service April 20
The U.S. Army Military District of Washington Chaplain will host the annual
Easter Sunrise Service April 20 at the memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National
Cemetery. The non-denominational worship service will begin with a prelude by the
U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own” at 6:15 a.m. The service is scheduled to begin with a
call to worship at 6:30 a.m.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For those with limited
mobility, a free shuttle service will provide transportation to the amphitheater
beginning at 5:15 a.m. from the Arlington National Cemetery’s Visitor Center and JBM-
HH’s Old Post Chapel Gate.
NOTE: Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall’s Selfridge Gate will be open for
pedestrians with a DoD ID card.

Bowling Center renovations
The Bowling Center on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will undergo
heating/air conditioning repairs beginning April 14, which will last approximately 6-8
weeks. During this time, the Bowling Center will not have heat or A/C, but is
scheduled to remain open for services. We will update as more information becomes

Finger printing no longer done at DES, moved to Security Office
All fingerprinting is now conducted at the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall
Security Office, located in Bldg. 59, Room B9 on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base.

Fort Myer ID office temporarily closed April 16-17
The ID office on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will be temporarily closed
April 16-17 for computer upgrades. The ID card office will reopen for normal business
April 18 at 8 a.m.

6. Volunteers needed for TAPS Good Grief Camp
The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) is in need of volunteers
for this year’s TAPS Good Grief Camp, supporting children of fallen military members
over the Memorial Day weekend.
Each Mentor will be matched with a child who has lost a loved one while serving
in the military. This camp will be held over the Memorial Day weekend and there is
mandatory training prior to the camp on May 21 or 22. For more information about the

Pentagon household goods assistance
All personnel assigned to the Pentagon or any of its agencies who are PCSing,

New – MCCS Offers New Community Counseling Program
The new Community Counseling Program is designed to provide increased
access to counseling for Marines, sailors, and their families, and to focus on screening,
prevention, and intervention of stressors and problems to improve readiness and
quality of life. We offer individual, couple, family, child, and group counseling services.
All counselors are independently licensed and credentialed professionals who can work
with you to develop a plan and find solutions to meet your needs and help you

New – EFMP workshop to focus on positive change of schools
The Exceptional Family Member Program, Henderson Hall portion of the joint
base, will hold a workshop and support group open to DoD families April 21 from 11

Anger Management workshops offered
Marine & Family Programs offers anger management workshops weekly,
Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The workshops are designed to teach eight tools for
managing anger. Participants may start at any time, but must attend all eight sessions to
receive a certificate of completion.
Sessions are in Building 12’s conference room on the Henderson Hall portion of the
joint base. The workshops are open to active duty personnel, their family members, and

9. Stress workshops held Tuesdays
Marine & Family Programs offers workshops on coping with work and family stress
on an ongoing basis. The 12-session, evidence-based series, designed to teach strategies
for dealing with stressors, is held Tuesdays, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., in Bldg. 12’s conference
room on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base. Topics include identifying
stressors, deep breathing and muscle relaxation, assertive communication, changing
yourself talk, eating right, exercise and developing a personal stress management plan.
The workshops are open to active duty personnel, their family members and military
retirees.

Traffic, Roads, Grounds
New – Washington Boulevard and Columbia Pike interchange
construction
The installation of the overhead sign structure on Route 27 Westbound
immediately before the exit ramp to Columbia Pike Westbound that was previously
scheduled for overnight Tuesday, April 15th, has been rescheduled for overnight
Wednesday, April 16th.
One or more travel lanes will be closed on Route 27 starting at 9:00 pm. The
Ramp from Route 27 Westbound to Route 244 Westbound will also be closed for this
work and traffic will follow the Second Street South detour. There is a potential for
complete intermittent roadway stoppages for 15 minutes during these activities. The
work will be completed by 4:30 am the following morning.
Please consider using alternate routes to avoid this area during these hours. The
work is weather dependent, and if delayed will be performed on Monday night, April
21st.
New – Summerall Field parking lot closed April 29 and 30
Summerall Field parking lot will be closed April 28 at 9 p.m. in support of a
ceremony. The parking lot will reopen April 29 after the ceremony is complete.

Any vehicles left in the parking lot during these closures will be towed at the
owner’s expense.
New – Face of America bike ride to tour JBM-HH April 28
The annual Face of America bike ride taking place April 28 will ride through the
Henderson Hall and Fort Myer portions of the joint base. The bicyclists will arrive
through the Gate 3 on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base at approximately

10. 7:30 a.m. The ride will follow along Carpenter Road, McNair road and Marshall Drive
until the riders depart the base at Wright Gate.
The ride should take approximately 15 minutes and will have a minimal traffic impact on the
joint base.
