• Reading- Our unit in reading is called Bigger Books; Bigger Reading Muscles. We will be
working on using all that we know to read books that are longer. Make sure you are
reading 100 minutes a week and turning in your reading logs on Mondays!
• Writing- Our unit in writing is How-To Books. We will be writing step by step directions
on how to do different things. For example how to pop popcorn! We will use words like
first, then, next, and last to help us write!
• Math- Our unit is called Build a Block, Build a Wall. We will combine 3-D shapes to
make other shapes.
• Science/S.S.- Geography, History, The Mitten, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, The Human
Body

Don’t forget to read 100 minutes every week and study your sight words! 
Some Ways You Can Help Your Child at Home
Reading: When your child gets stuck on a word, have them use their
strategies to help them fix it! Have them retell the story when they finish
reading.
Math: Practice addition and subtraction problems.
Writing: Help your child describe things around them using descriptive
words.
Science/ Social Studies: Watch videos with your child about light and
sound.

Reading:
We are starting our reading unit on the American Revolution!
This will be an exciting unit for your child! We will be learning
about different battles, important people, and the causes of the
war.
Writing:
While we are researching and learning about the
American Revolution in reading, we will be writing
about what we have learned in our new writing unit!
Math:
We are working with numbers 0-10,000!!! We are learning
new strategies when adding and subtracting!! Please keep
working on your multiplication and division!!
Social Studies:
We are learning about the American Revolution!

drawing on all that they have
learned to research and make
arguments about debatable issues.
Writing- Students are learning to
structure their writing so that it
includes claims that are supported
by reasons that are backed by
evidence. They will learn to sort,
weigh, and order evidence, as well
as suspend judgement, read
critically, note take, and to build
an argument.
Math- Students are working on
developing an understanding of
decimals and the base-10 number
system. Students will represent
decimals on grids and number lines
and use their understanding of
decimals to compare, add, and
subtract.
