The library at Rundlett Middle School hosted several academic competitions and presentations in January 2011, despite being closed for part of the month due to flooding. The library held the geography bee and spelling bee, and a visiting author and NASA presenter spoke to students. Additionally, the new Kindles purchased with a grant were distributed and reading programs utilizing the devices began. Library use was lower than the previous year due to the closure.
