2. Overview For my Issues- A Personal Response final product I decided to design an anti-drug campaign poster and TV advert to raise awareness and show the dangers of illegal drugs. I researched many different issues in society and chose the issue which concerned me the most and researched into more depth from there. I looked at other campaigns and advertisements and analysed who were their target audience were, what message they were trying to get across and decide if they were successful or not. Using the other drug adverts as guidance I planned and produced my final outcomes.
3. Preparation and Changes Made The preparation of my work as a whole could have been improved. The footage that took for my TV advert was rushed and I should have spent more time on planning the finalised idea. However their were boundaries that I came across that prevented me from shooting the footage outside of college. I had to attend my job for most of the week that I had the camera and there was a certain time of day that needed to capture the footage. On the other hand I think that my poster was well planned and produced very well. I managed the time I was given appropriately and looked at industry standard work and made a piece of work that I think was successful. Although, my first draft for my poster received more negative than positive feedback, so I changed it to make it look at a industry standard level.
4. Original Intentions and Feedback My original intention for the TV advert was to use the idea of a well known cartoon that teenagers from 16-20 would have watched when they were younger. My aim was to overwhelm the audience with nostalgia by reminding them of the show they watched years ago. This would result in the audience becoming interested in what the advert has to say. However due to editing and timing issues my advert wasn't executed in the way that I had planned. From feedback from my peers and tutors the main concern was the voiceover’s pitch, which changes throughout the advert and it effects its success. However from feedback from my tutors, my poster was at an industry standard level and it was successful in showing the dangers in the misuse of drugs. Even though I was able to make a poster that could shock the viewer, I believe that I did not reveal the target audience. Even though the photo I took was of a 16-20 year old, the age was not easily identifiable.
5. Research Effectiveness My research had a major influence on my final outcome and it helped me decide what my final product would consist of. I looked at varied poster campaigns to see how I could shock the audience whilst also not causing offense to the public. When planning my final piece I referred back to the drug campaigns so that I knew what essentials had to be involved on the TV advert and poster.
6. Self Management Throughout the unit there were times of concern when I did not manage my time appropriately enough to meet deadlines. Therefore I had had catch up during my free periods to ensure I met the assessment criteria for each task. I managed my time well during the research and was able to upload my work or research every week. I was also able create questionnaires an upload them onto the blog so I could receive feedback about my work and reflect on it. During the production of my work, I spent too much time editing my work, trying solve any of the issues that occurred. However when doing the photography for my poster, I was able to get the shots I needed earlier than expected. Therefore I gained time for my final production. As a whole there mixed times where a managed my time and work but to conclude I am satisfied with work I produced
