This document discusses YAMZ, a cross-domain crowd-sourced metadata vocabulary. YAMZ aims to provide a single dictionary and namespace for metadata terms from any research domain. It allows users to search for terms, add new terms, comment on and edit existing terms. Terms in YAMZ are assigned globally unique persistent identifiers. The vocabulary is intended to evolve over time based on crowd-sourcing and reputation-based voting, applying lessons from projects like Wikipedia. Feedback on YAMZ is welcome.
