•Students reflect upon and talk about their observations
Philosophical concepts are explored 
•What is Art? 
•Why do people create art? 
•Is some art better than other art?
How can we understand the meaning in a work of art 
•Can beauty change from culture to culture? 
•When does something become art?
Critical Analysis 
•Goal: To develop a base for making aesthetic judgments 
•Students compare and contrast works of art
Introduction to formal art criticism 
•Description ( What do I see) 
•Analysis ( How is it organized?) 
•Interpretation (What does it mean?) 
•Evaluation ( What do I think of it?)
•Students can analyze and interpret their own artwork.
Art History 
•Goal: to acquire knowledge of historical and cultural developments 
•Students will study a variety of art works – contemporary and historic
•Students will understand that art reflects, records and shapes history and plays a role in every culture
•Students will gain an understanding of their creative abilities and their heritage within the world
Learning takes place in many ways
Art Production –Creative Expression 
•Goal: To develop and expand visual arts knowledge and skills in order to express ideas visually
•Students will acquire skills in all media,to express ideas, feelings, values.
•Students will recognize and respect originality in their own visual expressions and in the the artwork of others
•Art Education provides the learner with an opportunity to analyze a problem and to seek a creative solution. This inventive spirit is an important attribute forany field of work
