The police chief presented an item to authorize the city manager to designate certain city employees, such as code compliance officers, to issue court citations for unresolved city code violations. This would create a more efficient process for enforcement given that the city charter requires the manager to ensure all laws and ordinances are enforced. State law allows municipalities to authorize qualified employees to enforce local rules. The proposed ordinance was reviewed by the city manager and attorney and no fiscal impact is anticipated.
