22. The ITAM Review US Conference 2017
This
was
a
very
complex
contract,
a
Hallmark
of
an
enterprise
agreement,
requiring
33
dis4nct
touchpoints
and
a
series
of
strategy
considera4ons
to
complete
the
deal
• We
first
had
to
form
a
cross
func4onal
team,
with
representa4on
from
every
division.
• This
had
never
been
done
before
!
We
needed
to
ensure
we
captured
data
from
every
corner
of
the
globe.
Consis4ng
of
representa4ves
for
all
five
divisions.
• This
team
was
made
up
of
many
job
types,
architects,
engineers,
technicians,
data
base
manager,
…
Anyone
and
everyone
involved
with
MicrosoL
products,
planning
and
support.

• The
process
of
assembling
this
type
of
global
team
required
many
phone
calls
and
interviews
to
find
the
right
people
to
talk
to
and
engage.
The
strongest
divisional
leaders
and
the
most
knowledgeable
within
the
staffs.
This
was
a
daun4ng
task,
to
collect
very
detailed
and
complex
data.
• Once
the
core
team
was
assembled
we
shared
the
mission,
the
why,
the
where,
the
who,
the
expecta4on,
and
of
course,
the
risks.
We
held
weekly
update
calls
and
reviewed
ac4on
lists
as
well
as
iden4fying
and
addressing
concerns,
issues,
and
support
• We
shared
product
lists
and
usage
rules.
We
dialogued
about,
and
nailed
down,
cri4cal
milestones
and
4melines.
We
involved
everyone
in
this
important
global
effort.

• We
not
only
executed
this
en4re
process
once…but
twice
to
ensure
we
had
uncovered
every
product
and
exploited
every
rule
interpreta4on.
Teams
counted
and
then
re-‐counted
to
double
and
triple
check
data.
• We
successfully
collected
our
global
inventory
of
MS
products
associated
with
our
exis4ng
agreement…on
4me.
A
sampling
of
4me
invested
yielded
a
report
of
over
2,400
hours
of
internal
resources.
• In
parallel
with
working
together
as
a
core
team,
we
reached
out
to
stakeholders,
scheduled
Bi-‐Weekly
update
calls
and
ensured
the
top
representa4ves
of
each
division
understood
what
we
were
doing
at
every
major
step
of
the
plan.
• When
the
inventories
were
completed
and
execu4ve
summaries
were
presented,
we
secured
the
sign-‐offs
and
prepared
for
nego4a4ons.
