I have the privilege of introducing Dr. William Allan Kritsonis. Dr. Kritsonis earned a Bachelor’s degree from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington. He earned his Master’s in Education from Seattle Pacific University and his PhD from the University of Iowa. He also was a Visiting Scholar at both Columbia University in New York, and Stanford University, Palo Alto, California.
Dr. Kritsonis has served education as a teacher, principal, and superintendent of schools. He has earned tenure as a professor at the highest academic rank at two major universities. He was also a professor at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
In 2004, Dr. Kritsonis was recognized as the Central Washington University Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus for the College of Education and Professional Studies.
In 2005, Dr. Kritsonis was an Invited Visiting Lecturer at the Oxford Round Table in the University of Oxford, Oxford, England.
Dr. Kritsonis is a well respected author of more than 500 articles in professional journals and several books. In 1983, Dr. Kritsonis founded the NATIONAL FORUM JOURNALS. These publications represent a group of highly respected academic journals in education.
Currently, Dr. Kritsonis is a Professor in the PhD Program in Educational Leadership here at Prairie View A&M University. At PV he has helped graduate students publish over 400 articles in professional journals and most are indexed in ERIC.
Dr. Kritsonis has dedicated himself to the advancement of educational leadership and to the education of students at all levels.
On July 26th this summer, Dr. Kritsonis was inducted into the William H. Parker Hall of Honor. He was nominated by doctoral and master’s degree students at Prairie View. It is my pleasure to welcome Dr. William Allan Kritsonis.

Overview
The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate knowledge of basic Python programming,
including proper naming conventions for variables and functions, and the use of loops to call
functions to input and display data and functions to calculate and display totals.
Scenario A local business has been doing payroll manually and wants to automate the process.
You are going to provide a proof of concept to demonstrate how data will be entered and payroll
calculated. The user will enter an employee name, hours worked, hourly rate, income tax rate and
the program will calculate the income taxes and net pay. After all data is entered, employee name,
hours worked, hourly rate, gross pay, income tax rate, income taxes and net pay will be displayed.
When the user enters End for the employee name the loop will terminate and the program will
display the total number of employees, total hours worked, total gross pay, total income taxes and
total net pay for all employees.
Instructions
Create a loop that will get allow user input by calling various functions until terminated by the user
typing End
Create a function that will input and return the employee name and is called inside the loop
Create a function that will input and return total hours and is called inside the loop
Create a function that will input and return the hourly rate and is called inside the loop
Create a function that will input and return the income tax rate and is called inside the loop
Create a function that will take total hours, hourly rate, and tax rate as parameters and calculate
and return the gross pay, income tax and net pay and is called inside the loop

Modify the program you created in Lab Assignment #9 (Babbage's Cabbage's, Part 3) to include
the following features:
Use parallel arrays to store the full name and gross pay of all employees entered. The size of the
arrays must be easy to change using a single symbolic constant. At the end of the program, after
all the individual employee records have been input and processed, write a summary table to the
report file listing the employees entered and their gross pay amounts. See the sample report that
follows for an example. (Your program may only store these two specific pieces of employee
data in arrays. You will not earn credit for this feature if you create additional arrays for other
pieces of employee data.)
Create individual functions for computing the sum of the gross pay amounts, the average, finding
the maximum gross pay, and the minimum gross pay. Each of these four functions can accept
only the array of gross pay amounts and number of valid data items as parameters, and cannot
depend on the array being arranged in order. Display the total, average, minimum, and maximum
of the gross pay amounts in the report file summary.
Use the optimized version of the Bubble Sort (v.3) so that the summary table of employee names
and gross pay amounts is arranged in descending order by gross pay.
Read input from a data file, rather than the user. See the sample data file that follows for an
example (note that the amount of the transportation deduction is supplied directly). You may
assume that all data provided in the file is valid. Remove all code related to keyboard input and
data validation so that the program simply reads from the data file and writes to the report file
without needing any input from the user.

Yelp’s ad platform handles millions of ad requests everyday. To generate ad metrics and analytics in real-time, they built they ad event tracking and analyzing pipeline on top of Spark Streaming. It allows Yelp to manage large number of active ad campaigns and greatly reduce over-delivery. It also enables them to share ad metrics with advertisers in a more timely fashion.
This session will start with an overview of the entire pipeline and then focus on two specific challenges in the event consolidation part of the pipeline that Yelp had to solve. The first challenge will be about joining multiple data sources together to generate a single stream of ad events that feeds into various downstream systems. That involves solving several problems that are unique to real-time applications, such as windowed processing and handling of event delays. The second challenge covered is with regards to state management across code deployments and application restarts. Counting things might sound like a trivial thing to do. But counting things consistently at scale can create unique and difficult challenges. At ResearchGate we count things for different reasons. On the one hand we provide numbers to our members to give them insights about their scientific impact and reach. At the same time, we use numbers ourselves as a basis for data-driven product development. We continuously tune our statistics infrastructure to improve our platform, adapt to new business requirements or fix bugs. A milestone in this improvement process has been the strategic decision to move our stats infrastructure from Storm to Flink. This significantly reduced complexity and required resources, including decreasing the load on our database backend by more than 30%. We will discuss the challenges we’ve encountered and overcome on the way, including handling of state and the need for online and offline processing using streaming and batch processors on the same data.

harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
