Everyone is talking about cloud computing and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) these days. Almost every technology vendor has announced a cloud strategy – even the traditional software zealots. But what do cloud computing and SaaS mean for product managers? The impacts are more significant than you may think. From pricing and profitability measurement to sales and marketing, cloud is having a noteworthy influence on the day-to-day activities of product managers.
The adoption rate for on-demand Learning Management Systems is skyrocketing. Compared to traditional “on premises” LMS software, the Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery model is appealing to HR and training professionals for several reasons, including its lower start-up costs, reduced total cost of ownership and rapid deployment. Many traditional LMS software vendors are jumping on the bandwagon and claim to have a SaaS offering. But what exactly is SaaS and how is it changing corporate learning? Is all SaaS the same? This session will help you separate the hype from reality, and provide an objective litmus test you can apply as you search for, compare and evaluate on-demand Learning Management Systems.

8 benefits of SaaS - Software as a ServiceHeadChannel
Whether an organisation is small or medium in size, there are several advantages to SaaS solutions. Not only can they provide cost-effectiveness to a business, but they can also result in your business receiving IT services that are effective. Even so, many organisations don’t understand why SaaS is better than traditional software. To help with this, some of the benefits of software as a service are listed below.

Why Choose the Nalpeiron Licensing Service vs. Building Your OwnJon Gillespie-Brown
Historically many ISVs have built their own licensing due to lack of flexible or cost-effective enough solutions to their needs, but with the advent of standards today, such as web services and new vendors like Nalpeiron who offer a modern hosted paradigm, many of those previous barriers to outsourcing have been removed.
So why has licensing lagged behind?

Robotic process automation (RPA) is a set of tools and processes that are designed to automate digital processes. We work with companies of all sizes in a variety of industries to help them improve inefficiencies, automate tedious tasks, and drive more value out of their processes.
Where Robotic Process Automation is concerned, UiPath and Automation Anywhere are arguably the two reigning titans. Each one has its own unique approach to the industry, and each one is suited for a specific type of use case — and as specific set of industries.

Whether or not you believe that IT is experiencing a
revolution, it is clear that a number the fundamentals of how
the IT infrastructure is built are changing. Server and storage
virtualisation, cloud-based delivery models, data centre
convergence onto 10 Gigabit Ethernet and the unification of
voice communications mechanisms are all symptomatic of
this. But IT is a two-edged sword: with every innovation
come a new set of risks to be mitigated, holes to be filled,
policies to be set and compliance objectives to be stuck to. In
the face of such rapid change, how exactly should
organizations large and small be thinking about security?
What are the pot-holes along the road, and how can they be
avoided?
IT support incorporates some fundamental principles, but these need to be considered in today’s context of an increasingly flexible and more demanding workforce. In this presentation, we consider the challenges of modern day support, and how they can be met with a combination of best practices and tools.
· The modern workforce – what’s driving the state of play and what are the resulting needs
· Linking IT support challenges with continuity and productivity needs
· Applying the timeless principles of IT service delivery to an increasingly flexible workforce

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.

17. “ What licensing model would work best for virtualisation?” “ Easier licensing methods should be a selling point for companies. Who cares if a single CPU license includes the ability to run on up to 4 cores? Just license by CPU core (just make it 1/4 the cost of the single CPU license, if that's what you were charging anyway), or by concurrent user connections, or some combo of the above. All this 'buy one license, and you can actually install 4 copies in a virtual environment' just makes things hard to understand..” “ VM and application vendors need to work with their customers to determine how to establish pricing models. Obviously, 'the market' will eventually sort this, but getting an understanding of how a customer benefits from VM technology and applications that work with it will hasten the market normalization and allow customers to coherently acquire products.” “ Entire virtual machines should be treated just like word processing documents or MP3 files. I should be able to upload my virtual machine to say, my Google email, then go on vacation and from some internet cafe in the world access my virtual machine. Current licensing models do not make this possible.” “ any model that doesn't disadvantage me in my choice of whether to run in a virtual or physical environment.” “ If I can run one instance of a software package on a server with 500 users, why should I have to spend 5 times as much to run 5 instances of the software package (each in its own VM), where each instance carries 100 users?
20. So, thinking of small scale workgroup or individual user requirements to begin with, would you consider SaaS applicable to the following types of application?
21. Coming back to the types of application we were discussing earlier, do you see the hybrid architectural approach as suitable for the following and coming up a level to more broadly deployed enterprise solutions?
