4. INTRODUCTION
English language plays an essential role in our lives as it
helps in communication. It is the main language for
studying any subject all over the world. English is
important for students as it broadens their minds,
develops emotional skills, improve the quality of life by
providing job opportunities.
5. ABOUT THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE
An English-medium education system is one that uses English as the
primary medium of instruction—particularly where English is not the
mother tongue of the students.Initially this is associated with the
expansion of English from its homeland in England and the lowlands of
Scotland and its spread to the rest of Great Britain and Ireland,
beginning in the sixteenth century. The rise of the British Empire
increased the language's spread to British colonies[1][2] and in many of
these it has remained the medium of education. The increased
economic and cultural influence of the United States since World War II
has also furthered the global spread of English,[1][2] as has the rapid
spread of Internet and other technologies.[3] As a result of this, in
many states throughout the world where English is not the
predominant language there are English-medium schools.

7. As a result of this, in many states throughout the world where English is
not the predominant language there are English-medium schools. Also
in higher education, due to the recent trend towards
internationalization, an increasing number of degree courses,
particularly at Master's level, are being taught through the medium of
English.[4]Known as English-Medium Instruction[5] (EMI), or ICLHE
(Integrating Content and Language in Higher Education),[6] this rapidly
growing phenomenon has been contested in many contexts.[7]
INDIA
Private English medium schools are gaining popularity throughout India as
urban middle class Indians who feel that English is the global language send
their children to these schools. Increasingly, many poor families too are sending
their children to English medium schools due to the poor quality of education in
Government-run non-English medium schools.

9. SKILLS REQUIRED AT WORKPLACE
The impact of certain skills in life can be underestimated. As a graduate
or undergraduate student, it is necessary to understand the meaning
and use of the word skills since it is a vital subject in life. Acquiring
skills is very important in every stage of life; for example, during
primary, middle and high school, we learn to organize, plan different
disciplines, and participate in volunteer activities that help to improve
skills needed in the future. Employers focus on two categories of skills
in their applicants: soft and hard skills. They will be an asset to acquire
a good position in the workforce.
A skill is the ability to do an activity well, after it has been done many
times and in a competent manner. In our daily life, skills need to be
developed and are key to a successful life. For example, there are
transferable skills that a person has gained from their jobs, hobbies,
coaching a sports team or being involved in volunteer work with the
10. There are two skill sets that employers look for in candidates during
the job application process. These primary skill sets are hard skills
and soft skills. Hard skills are teachable abilities or skill sets that are
easy to quantify. Examples of hard skills are proficiency in a foreign
language, a degree, and computer programming, among others. In
applying for positions, these sets of skills can be listed in a cover
letter, resume, or CV, that an employer or recruiter can easily
recognize.
11. HOW ARE SCHOOL PREPARING STUDENTS FOR THE
JOB OF THE FUTURE?
According to the World Economic Forum in 2022,
“75 million current job roles may be displaced by
the shift in the division of labour between humans,
machines, and algorithms, while 133 million new
job roles may emerge at the same time ". It’s no
longer about achieving the grades to get a ‘job for
life’; education has to be focused on lifelong
learning. Students need to learn new skills that will
best prepare them for jobs which may not exist yet
in our ever-changing world. And they need to have
the skillset to continue learning from graduation
through to retirement; they need to be capable of
constantly adapting and constantly learning .
Unshackled from a single national curriculum,
schools have the freedom to redesign their curricula
for the future. Here we look at the big changes
happening now and in the future for students and
ask educational leaders what we should (and could)
12. A NEW WAY OF TEACHING
As the World Economic Forum reported in 2020, “65% of children in
primary schools today will work in jobs that don’t exist yet”. Today’s
curriculum has to evolve to meet the demands of tomorrow. The old-
fashioned methods of rote learning and basic recall of content are
being replaced by inquiry and project-based learning, which
encourages students to become independent workers, critical
thinkers and problem-solvers.
“We have always stressed balance in our curriculum and pride
ourselves on our holistic approach - so, no change here - but today
this is even more important. All students will need that breadth of
knowledge, skills and experience to help them navigate the modern
world of work.”
13. COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Students are constantly learning how to write professionally.
They write emails to professors, carefully crafting them—just like
they will for managers, clients, customers, prospects, and
coworkers. Students participate in class discussions—like team
meetings in the workplace. And they parti. in group projects and
are held responsible for their role and actions. The same applies
in the workplace. “Students engage in debate and discussion,
both written and verbal, and complete project work together,
mirroring what will be required from them in the workforce later.
The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in
written form develops throughout a student’s whole collegiate
experience.
