The distress facing the agriculture sector needs an integrated approach deriving a win-win solution for all the concerned stakeholders—water security and better livelihood for farmers, easing of the massive financial burden on the state and the electricity utility, and benefits to the public at large through job creation and lower emissions. Our analysis considers a three-pronged approach consisting of (i) grid-interactive solar PV (photovoltaic), (ii) energy efficient pumps (EE), and (iii) advanced irrigation technology (AI) at the farm level. It makes policy recommendations for a successful implementation of this approach.

Uba development of indigenous cattle thru integrated strategyJag Rawat
Indigenous breeds of cattle are on the verge of extinction in various states of the country. I chaired a Committee of Animal Welfare Board of India in 2008 and gave a new perspective to make Gaushala (hospice for cattle) as an Agency of Natural Resource Management agency. As well, requiring many ministries to contribute, it is the rural househould or grazing lands have to innovate in commercially viable strategy of conservation of the breeds.

Addressing Energy Governance: Questions of Scale and Scope
This webinar brings together researchers working on energy governance issues from a range of projects funded under two different DFID initiatives. These initiatives are the EPSRC/DFID/DECC funded Understading Sustainable Energy Solutions (USES) programme whose 13 projects are networked under the USES Network (http://www.lcedn.com/uses) and the DFID-funded Gender and Energy research programme which is managed by Energia (http://www.energia.org/research).
Issues that will be covered in the webinar include: the roles of local government and political decentralization in energy governance; the political economy of energy sector dynamics and decision-making processes; Energy sector reform and fossil-fuel subsidization and the role of cities and municipalities in sustainable energy transitions.
Cambridge | Jan-14 | The Smart Villages Initiative: OverviewSmart Villages
Presentation by John Holmes, EASAC, Smart Villages Technology Workshop, Cambridge 14 January 2014
The purpose of the workshop was to bring together leading UK researchers to discuss emerging technologies for the sustainable production and use of energy in rural communities in developing countries, and to take a ‘look ahead’ at scientific developments and technologies that might be influential over the next 10 - 20 years. It was held under the auspices of the ‘smart villages’ initiative, a three - year project to advance sustain able energy provision for development in off - grid villages in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
In recognition of Earth Day, Acxiom analyzed 1.4 million individuals, approximately 1% of its vast data repository, to gauge environmental consciousness and understand how people participate in endeavors to go green.
By analyzing macro-economic themes that are representative of energy and resource production and consumption, this report provides an overview of the near-term themes in cleantech as we see it.
Role of women in Renewable Energy SectorShiva Gorjian
Renewable energy sectors can be classified according to the principal economic activity and the use of technology – heating and electricity. It is also possible to make a distinction between renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind and hydro. Progress has been made in recent decades to raise the level of gender equality but women are still much less likely to have access or control over productive and natural
resources and have less access to modern technologies or financial services and receive poorer education, training, and technical advice.
An earlier version of the presentation made in 2008 and shared here has been widely appreciated. This presentation is for multiplying muslim responses for mitigation of climate while appealing on the commons across the faith groups.

e-commerce is not really happening ye in Israel. In the presentation I propose my approach to why e-commerce in Israel is not yet developed and why this is about to change. Retailers in Israel are facing hard times with the economic downturn along with last years protests against the high cost of living. e-commerce might just be their way to deal with it!

Intersections between Poverty, Environment and Inclusive Growth: A Global Per...UNDP Policy Centre
Presentation by Ms. Leisa Perch from the International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) at the II National Development Conference (CODE/IPEA). This presentation is based on largely on IPC-IG's Poverty in Focus magazine #23 and speaks to four key areas/messages: (i) Intersections of environmental risk and poverty and social risk and the environment are fundamental to the inclusiveness of growth; (ii) Both structural and situational in nature, they require solutions that focus on both participation and benefit-sharing; (iii)
Relevant policy innovations exist and need to be up-scaled; (iv) A focus on the quality of growth will be key in sustaining progress.
