• IoT devices are dominating in term of
numbers and keep growing
• This shows the magnitude of importance for
IoT devices in the near future
* CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate)

• The important features of IoT devices such as connectivity, small in size, low power
consumption, mobile, modular, etc. Have made it compatible to a lot of applications
Smart Parking

• Example of application: Smart Parking
• 1st: LoRa communication embedded sensors (we can
called it node), sent data uplink
• 2nd: LoRa gateway will receive the uplink data and
connect it to the cloud server
• 3rd: The cloud will have LoRa server, and application
server to process, translate and visualize the uplink data
• 4th: Network server from control room to communicate
with parking manager
• 5th: Real time data from the system platform can be
share with city services to help city residents in parking
planning
Example of IoT Topography

• Example of IoT Topography
• 1st: Peripheral Hardware, the node which can be
sensors, actuators or drives. Measurements,
movements or work operations can be digitize
• 2nd: Embedded System, the firmware and control
operation of the node level is situated. Several IoT
preferred connectivity can be use for the node to
‘talk’ to the cloud, sending uplink of the measured
data
• 3rd: Local Network, the network server part which
translate raw data from nodes to compatible
language for web application usage
• 4th: Internet, this part will have mobile and web
application platform which synthesize and visualize
all of the nodes data to be represented to users
• 5th: Other devices, other nodes which have different
connectivity or application can have ports translated
and connected to the same platform on cloud level
for wider system integration
