Internet of Things - structured approach to the physical plant network - Rock...Carotek
The convergence of new technologies that securely connect plant information with enterprise systems can bring greater productivity, better utilization of assets, and improved decision-making to industrial companies. By bridging the gap between factory-level systems and enterprise systems, Rockwell Automation and Cisco can show how the connected enterprise offers ease of use, lower total cost of ownership, and improved operations.
This set of method cards introduces briefly the design thinking approach. It explains the design process as well as the prototyping phases of design thinking projects.
There basically 2 ways of getting involved with the University of St.Gallen in order to have a design thinking team working for your organization.
1. Design Thinking @ HSG
2. Embedded Design Thinking
Both ways are explained in the set.

Short paper presente @Enter2010 in Lugano www.enter2010.org
In this paper we describe the prototype of a location-based M-tourism application called My Italy, developed by the Usability and Accessibility Laboratory (LUA) University of Rome Sapienza. My Italy is a mobile multimedia tourist guide capable of supplying the mobile user with context-aware information during travel in a fast and easy way.
Paper presented @Tyrrhenian Workshop on the Internet of Things 2009
ZigBee is probably the most popular IEEE 802.15.4 implementation used for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). The radio communication can also be used for localization purposes using fixed network devices as reference points. In this paper, the authors describe a procedure for automatically configuring a ZigBee-based localization appli-cation with environment-optimized parameters.
Massimiliano Dibitonto
4. Iot usually refers to technology but it doesn’t say
anything about the people that are a part of the
network.
THE NEXT "BIG THING" IS NOT A THING.
IT IS A CHANGE IN THE RELATIONSHIP
AMONGST THE THINGS.

5. COSA CAMBIA PER LA UX
L’esperienza d’uso entra
nell’esperienza di vita.
Cambiano le regole di
engagement e di
interazione.
L’ esperienza è legata al
servizio (eg. telefono).
Service based products
Product based services
Asincronia e problemi
dovuti a ritardi di rete.
Funzioni distribuite in
molti touchpoints adatti a
differenti contesti d’uso
Automazione e controllo
remoto sono attività simili
alla programmazione
(molto sforzo per l’utente)
Complessità: molti
dispositivi, molti utenti,
molte regole e molte
funzioni.
Massimiliano Dibitonto
6. Cambio di mentalita’
Un prodotto connesso è legato a un un
ecosistema.
MOBILE APP
SINGOLOTOUCHPOINT
ECOSISTEMA
SERVIZIO +TOUCHPOINTS
Massimiliano Dibitonto
7. UN cambiamento delle competenze
UI/Visual Design
Screen layout, look and feel
Interaction design
Architecture and behaviours per
service, per device
Industrial design
Physical hardware:
capabilities and form factor
Interusability
Interactions spanning multiple devices
with different capabilities
Conceptual model
How should users think
about the system?
Service design
Customer lifecycle, customer services,
integration with non digital touchpoints
Productisation
Audience, proposition, objectives,
functionality of a specific service
Platform design
Conceptual architecture and domain
models spanning products/services

In
considerazione.
Massimiliano Dibitonto
13. LE REFERENCE CARDS
INPUT/OUTPUT:
Canali e modalità di input e output.
Non si riferiscono direttamente alla
componente tecnologica ma
all’impatto in termini di IxD e UX.
Possono essere usati sia come
ispirazione che in fase progettuale
per definire le caratteristiche del
touchpoint e il modello di
interazione con l’utente.
Massimiliano Dibitonto
14. USO DELLE CARDS
Il metodo suggerisce delle
disposizioni delle carte che
aiutano a visualizzare diversi
aspetti del prodotto/servizio o
applicare delle tecniche che
favoriscano il processo di
progettazione :
- Customer journey map
- System map
- Service blueprint
- Actors map
- Touchpoint matrix
- Affinity diagram
- Prototyping
