Black Hills State University hosted Camp Invention this summer for students entering 1st through 6th grade. This presentation showcases events and activities that occurred during our week's camp.
The document summarizes a solar energy workshop held at Chatham University's Eden Hall Campus. Participants learned about solar panel installation and how to calculate energy usage of common household appliances. They toured the campus's 408 solar panels which generate enough energy to power 14 homes annually. The workshop aimed to help homeowners determine if solar is right for them by looking at their roof suitability and tree coverage, and considering an installation professional's assessment. The event closed out the summer workshop series as daylight hours shortened.

This presentation was given at the South Dakota State Library conference in the capital of Pierre. Two Assistant Professors in Teacher Education co-presented the session on Reading Across Content Areas and focused on our audience of Librarians in the Common Core Initiative.
This slideshow illustrates the increasing population of our world and issues associated in studying population. A special look at the use of graphs and maps in assessing and analyzing these issues was taken. Presentation was shared with an audience of Social Science Teacher Education students as an example for use of Powerpoint, visuals, and problem based learning in the Social Studies classroom.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive functioning. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms.

The document discusses the evolution of intranets from service portals to social networks. It emphasizes the importance of understanding user needs, behaviors, and motivations when designing an intranet. Intranets should focus on allowing users to work efficiently, share collaboratively, and discuss their work and interests. The key is providing services and features that users will actually like and use through an iterative, user-centric design process.
The document discusses how the main product (album) and ancillary materials (music video, advertisement, digital packaging) for a band are effectively connected through common design elements and themes. Specifically, it notes that the black and white color scheme, stylized band name font, footage and drawings of a girl in a forest setting, and sense of mystery created by the trees and water imagery work together to present a cohesive promotional package and pique audience interest in learning more.
This document discusses approaches to measuring organizational culture effectiveness. It describes the system resource approach, internal process approach, goal approach, constituency approach, and domain approach. It also discusses features of organizational culture change, including that changes can result from internal and external pressures and may affect people, structure, and technology. Finally, it outlines the stages of organizational change processes, including unfreezing, implementing, and refreezing.
This editorial introduces the first issue of The Hultian student magazine. It encourages students to submit their own articles, photos, and submissions to make the magazine their own. It aims to bring students the best content on interesting topics and share information about campus and the local area. The editorial expresses excitement about the inaugural issue and looks forward to publishing future editions.

Tomorrow is the last day of Camp Invention. Students have gained understanding about the world through asking questions. On the next to last day, students designed volcano investigating gear, built rafts to escape erupting volcanoes, and earned a fire glyph. They also filed a mock patent, marketed inventions, and will test inventions in a duck chuck challenge. Students explored sand storms, hurricanes, and tsunamis, selecting a challenge to build solutions for. They played creative games in teams. Students learned about animals removing salt from their bodies and invented fantasy animals for the Dead Sea. A survey is available to provide feedback to improve future Camp Invention programs.
Amazing inventions by teens - Inventions Created By Teenagers - Compiled by E...Enamul Haque
Kids can be incredibly creative and inventive – and some even see their big ideas develop into astounding business opportunities as well. The following ten children turned their frustrations, mistakes and strokes of luck and brilliance into commercial successes, businesses and even life-long careers. Their stories are sure to inspire anyone going into the business world, where ingenuity and imagination are often a bonus, if not a must. Kids came up with these great inventions, conceiving everything from earmuffs to Popsicles.

- The second day of the Camp Invention program saw students generating innovative ideas and solutions to global challenges involving traffic, living space, and converting marine debris into power.
- Students explored ocean navigation using SONAR and retrieved a message in a bottle clueing them into tomorrow's activities. They also scaled K2 and built structures to retrieve dropped supplies.
- The program focuses on developing students' creative thinking, problem solving, teamwork and collaboration skills through hands-on activities.
The document proposes a "STEM into Spring" event to expose 5th grade students to STEM careers and concepts through hands-on activities. It will be held by high school students and include stations on engineering challenges like building the tallest tower or longest bridge, designing a robotic hand or paper helicopters, and constructing and programming boxel robots. The goals are to spark students' interest in STEM fields, give them materials to continue exploring at home, and provide information about future STEM opportunities and camps to parents. The proposed activities explore fields like aerospace, biomedical, civil, software and mechanical engineering through creative problem-solving.
The document describes the InnoBox Science and Engineering Kit, which aims to address educational needs in South Africa. It contains over 50 science and engineering experiments covering various disciplines like biology, physics, chemistry, and engineering. The experiments are designed to be conducted in resource-limited environments using supplies provided. An initial implementation will take place at a school in South Africa to assess the InnoBox and enhance its sustainability and contents. The goal is to provide a multidisciplinary STEM education using a low-cost, portable kit.
The document contains summaries of various projects related to design, sustainability, and innovation. Some of the projects described include a coat that transforms into a tent for refugees, a water-filtering cup that teaches hygiene, a robotic pillow that helps users fall asleep, and a flat-pack greenhouse kit. The document also highlights inventions by teenage inventors, such as a fast-charging battery and a device that uses algae to reduce car emissions.
The document describes Dr. Abdul Kalam Kalpakata Kendra, a children's tech center started in 2012 to nurture students' interest in science and technology. The center provides hands-on learning programs in electronics and robotics for students aged 8-16 through a three-year curriculum. In year one, students are introduced to electronics concepts. In year two, they learn about electronics and mechanics by building various robots. In year three, they are taught computer programming to control electronic devices. The goal is to ignite students' curiosity and encourage innovative problem solving through real-life projects. The center has received national and international recognition for students' work.
This document discusses a proposed project called "Energy Wizards" that would allow secondary school students to experiment with alternative energy resources. Students would produce their own energy through mechanical and electrical means to power small electronic devices using resources like seawater, wind, and wood fires. The goal of the project would be to design an educational package with tools and lesson plans for both indoor and outdoor workshops. This package would include logistical plans for transportation and waste removal. Multimedia skills would be used to create training materials for instructors. The project would take place in collaboration with a university program and involve students studying energy, science, engineering, education and communication.
Each summer, MATC interns work with transportation professionals to provide themselves with experiences that will assist them when they enter the field of transportation research.

Assessment and Planning in Educational technology.pptxKavitha Krishnan
In an education system, it is understood that assessment is only for the students, but on the other hand, the Assessment of teachers is also an important aspect of the education system that ensures teachers are providing high-quality instruction to students. The assessment process can be used to provide feedback and support for professional development, to inform decisions about teacher retention or promotion, or to evaluate teacher effectiveness for accountability purposes.
