VIsion, Scenarios, Insights and Recommendations on how ICT may help making lifelong learning a reality for all (VISIR)
The aim of the VISIR network is to contribute to the full exploitation of the potential of ICT to transform and innovate European lifelong learning and to equip European citizens with digital competencies and other key transversal competencies for life and employability in Europe.The project will analyse the existing trends on ICT for learning in Europe and draft a long term vision on the contribution of ICT for transforming education and training systems and catalogue successful ICT-for-learning micro-innovation practices. It will facilitate exchange of ideas and concerns around these practices through the organisation of six transnational seminars connected to major conferences focusing on specific “sectors in change” of ICT-for-learning and through a web2.0 “online showcase”. The project also aims to facilitate the mainstreaming of these practices both towards E&T policy makers and towards learning communities and provide research-grounded recommendations for policy making and for innovative practices large scale scalability and transferability.

Open Educational Practice – opportunities for the HE sectorOEPScotland
Presentation for the ELESIG meeting held at the University of Abertay on 25 April 2017 looking at some of the issues that open practice raises for the higher education sector
The CareNet project is aimed at developing a critical set of ICT competences for 2 identified ‘at risk’ target groups: care-workers and older persons. The project is designed to work in a synergistic way to tackle identified problems in the low skilled and under professionalised care-worker sector while at the same time promoting social inclusion and enhancing the quality of life of older people. The CareNet project will design, develop and pilot learning paths and resources based on cooperative learning between care workers and care recipients to promote improved quality of care and quality of life through the acquisition of care related digital competences. In addition, to answer specific needs, learning modules for individual learning, addressing ICT competences for employability and self-development (care workers) and ICT competences for active ageing (older people) will be created. In this way the project will contribute to: (1) the identified needs for professionalisation of care workers; (2) increased access to learning opportunities; (3) personal development of care workers and, ultimately, (4) overcoming the isolation of both care workers and older people by promoting social enterprise, active citizenship and active ageing.
Doukas School participates in several EU and National R&D projects and coordinates extensive European Networks under programmes such as Horizon 2020, Erasmus+, Lifelong Learning Programme, Intelligent Energy Europe, EPEAEK, PAVE, LINGUA.

2. Motivations
• The “Opening Up Education” policy of the European Commission was
announced in 2013 to boost innovation and digital skills in schools and
universities.
• The major statement of the policy was that about 63% of nine year olds in the EU are in
schools that are still not digitally equipped although 90% of jobs will require digital skills
by 2020.
• The Net Children Go Mobile project study, funded by the Commission,
concluded that, in all the European countries asked, daily Internet access is
strongly differentiated by age, with older children having more access
everywhere.
• Age differences, however, are more pronounced for private or mobile Internet use with
teenagers aged 15-16 years old far more likely, about 84%, to access the Internet in their
own bedroom.
3. In a nutshell

1. To assess the use of public and private cloud-based infrastructure services with
proven track records in higher education and research, integrating and adapting
them to the specific learning context of schools.
