The DESIRE project consulted science teachers, project managers, communicators and policymakers from 2011-2013 to identify how to more efficiently disseminate results from STEM education projects to teachers and schools. It analyzed stakeholders' experiences to determine the main obstacles and facilitators. The DESIRE survival kit provides recommendations for project managers and policymakers on how to plan and carry out dissemination of funded science education projects based on lessons learned. It identifies targets, obstacles to reaching them, and offers tools to create multiplier effects and mainstream results into policies.

The reports examine topics like definitions of media literacy, measuring media literacy levels, curriculum design approaches, and teacher training. They have found diversity in how media literacy is addressed across education systems, but also some common challenges around supporting teachers. The project aims to enhance understanding of best practices in media education through its research and knowledge sharing activities.
[EADTU-EU Online Summit] 7. Emergency Remote Teaching Initiative

Kaleidoscope, a FP6 network of excellence, kick off meeting 040309
Kaleidoscope, a FP6 network of excellence in the technology enhanced learning (TEL) research area, was created in 2004 following a four years contract with the European commission. The aim of the network was to foster integration of different research disciplines relevant to TEL, bridging educational, cognitive and social sciences, and emerging technologies. This ambition was both scientific and strategic:
- It was scientific by its aim “to develop a rich, culturally-diverse and coherent theoretical and practical research foundation for research and innovation in the field”, exploring “the different conceptual frameworks of relevant disciplines in order to delineate the commonalities and differences that frame the research objectives in the field”
- it was strategic by its aim “to develop new tools and methodologies that operationalise an interdisciplinary approach to research on TEL at a European-wide level” with the expectation of a significant impact at the international level.
To bring this ambition to reality, in a very fragmented European TEL research area, it chosen to involve a large number of contributors of which only a small number were already collaborating, and a large range of different research themes. A set of instruments was planned to support the construction of the network and the integration process at both the content and the infrastructure level.

The Tuuli Project aimed to accelerate data management planning in Finnish research organizations from 2015-2017. It developed a data management planning tool (DMPTuuli) and guidance through collaboration with 17 partner organizations. User testing ensured the tool and guidance met researcher needs. Over 15,000 researchers now have access to DMPTuuli to create data management plans, as required by the Academy of Finland and other funders. The project has increased support for open science practices around research data in Finland.Euroversity
The project aims to establish a collaborative network of European and Israeli institutions with experience using virtual worlds for education. The network will share best practices for developing online courses in virtual platforms and create a framework for good practice implementation. Partners will evaluate the impact of established practices across different learner levels and contexts. The goals are to share experiences, evaluate the good practice framework, and disseminate the results more widely.

eTwinning Closing Speech
European Schoolnet is a network of 28 European Ministries of Education that aims to support schools in using technology for learning. It coordinates several programs and activities at the European level including eTwinning, which promotes school collaboration using online tools. Ministries of Education play an important role in promoting and supporting eTwinning by recognizing participation, integrating it into teacher training, and providing in-service training. An effective education system requires multi-stakeholder partnerships, appropriate infrastructure and resources for schools/teachers, and core values like being learner-centered and inclusive.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity server
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).
