What is hosted telephony?
A hosted, or as it’s otherwise known, a cloud telephone system, is one that is based on a net-
work data centre (this is the cloud part) as opposed to a physical PBX which traditionally sat
on the premises. The platform is controlled and accessed through either a web interface or
mobile application and make calls over the service through their data connection. Hosted
telephony systems are quickly becoming a cheaper and more scalable alternative the tra-
ditional on site PBX with the added benefits of not having the costly, long-term maintenance
requirements.

are replacing out-dated legacy alternatives. But what is driving this hosted revolution?

ideal for remote working

means lower total cost of ownership

Connectivity - With improvements to broadband reliability and increased
capacity ensures better call quality

How hosted telephony work?
A hosted telephone system sits on a server in the cloud rather than in
your office and calls are made via a broadband connection to the
network provider’s (Gamma) network. From here they are routed to
the normal phone network and mobile devices.
Through the use of an easy-to-use web interface that provides feature control and perfor-
mance monitoring information through a dashboard allowing access to information, such as
call history, voicemail and recorded calls.
Personalised settings can be set quickly and easily to ensure your calls are handled effectively.
With the choice of a range of premium handsets and mobile clients,
a hosted telephony system enables a high standards of phone
interoperability.
