BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a digital representation and process for creating a model of a physical structure. It provides key functions like representation of the structure, decision support, exchange of information, documentation, and automation. BIM maturity has increased in the construction industry, evolving from 2D scale drawings to 3D models with varying levels of detail. The BIM model contains physical and functional data about a building project and supports information and knowledge management throughout its lifecycle, from design to construction to operation.
