MAJOR RENOVATION
EXISTING BUILDINGS
• From little to no construction
• Renovation is focused in operation
and maintenance
• Based on performance period
LEED for EXISTING BUILDING
OPERATION & MAINTENANCE
• Performance period of 3 – 24 months
• Performance periods should have no gaps (> 7 days)
• All performance (actions and policies) periods should end
with the same 30-day interval
• Performance should be submitted within 60 days from the
day after of the end of the performance period
• Certification every 5 years

CREDIT STRUCTURE
ESTABLISHMENT (static and foundational)
• Building components and site infrastructure
(characteristics and systems of the building)
• Policies and Plans (statements that set goals and outline
the implementation of operational management
strategies)

PERFORMANCE(dynamic and recurring)
• Regularly repeated actions (to inform continued
performance and to identify improvement opportunities)
• Policies (ongoing tracking occurs continually, verifying

Share water consumption
data with USGBC on
monthly basis
Install or utilize whole-building energy metering
Submeter all energy end-uses that represent at least 20%
of total energy use
REPLACE OR RETROFIT EXISTING EQUIPMENT
THAT USES CFC REFRIGERANTS
(exempt: small equipment with < 0.5 lbs (225 g) refrigerant)
EPP = Environmentally preferable purchasing
DEMONSTRATE NATURAL

  • 10. • Performance period of 3 – 24 months • Performance periods should have no gaps (> 7 days) • All performance (actions and policies) periods should end with the same 30-day interval • Performance should be submitted within 60 days from the day after of the end of the performance period • Certification every 5 years LEED for EXISTING BUILDING OPERATION & MAINTENANCE
