Editor's Notes
I have done the AT101 presentation many times. Usually I am here to answer questions, today my goal is to get some answers or at least get you thinking about answers. I have provided AT services for over 20 years and I maybe got into a comfortable spot. New to community, new to this job, and starting new service so I want to start with what is needed not what I know.
Since I am doing this backward, I am going to start with a slide I usually have later in the presentation. We all probably have some vision of who needs AT. CR is/was probably the most famous person with a (acquired) disability. Someone like him is often the prototypical AT user. Can’t use his hands at all, sip and puff, wheelchair, … Completely dependent for mobility, eating, computer use,… He was certainly an AT user but probably not typical.
Computer use should be a tool to help with other goals. I will be more detailed because it applies across areas, I like doing it, more options, cross-disability,…
Starting here because lots of options but structured, I like it, solves issues in many of the other areas. I will try and avoid too much detail – let me know if not. What is the issue? Why is it hard to use the computer?
