The document discusses improving collaboration and communication within QuestBack by implementing a new intranet using Salesforce. It identifies challenges with existing intranets like documents being spread across multiple systems and lack of a complete people directory. The proposed solution is to build the intranet natively in Salesforce using standard functionality like Chatter, groups and custom objects to create departmental pages, integrate relevant data and metrics, and allow easier employee contributions. Some remaining challenges are a lack of Chatter support for certain user types and needing richer functionality for groups, profiles and document storage.

Problem: Several innovations in data management are reshaping the IT landscape. Among them
are: server virtualization, storage virtualization, desktop virtualization, artificial intelligence, cloud
applications, and the near future network virtualization. As an executive, we will ask ourselves,
and discuss, the extent to which the virtualization of processing portends the removal of a
dedicated IT staff. We will discuss the extent to which the CIO is no longer the manager of a
dedicated expert staff, but fully engaged in vendor management and service oversight. Finally we
should ask ourselves the extent to which bricks and mortar will even define the corporation as an
entity. The corporation, or at least its administrative wing, is more of an abstract. Does it matter if
the processing engine of your corporate data is in Bangladesh or Nairobi? Does it matter what flag
the vendor's employee's salute or what god they worship? Once we have achieved global network
infrastructure stability and redundancy, we may find ourselves seriously questioning our
understanding of "corporation" or even employment. Discuss: What is the balance between
sustaining the interests of the corporation's stakeholders (shareholders. Executives, the board of
directors) and sustaining the interests of our staff? Is our traditional staff (bound by the
"contractual" arrangements) significant when weighed against the interests of the stockholders?
This is not an easy or obvious question. Start with Eisenhart. The discussion is not about server
virtualization. That is a footnote to illustrate how technology renders more efficient that which
people once did.
SOLUTION: (The question of balancing the interests of a corporation's stakeholders and its staff is
a complex one that requires careful consideration of multiple factors. At its core, this question is
about the relationship between the corporation and its employees, and how this relationship
impacts the corporation's ability to achieve its goals and create value for its stakeholders. One way
to approach this question is to consider the work of William Eisenhart, a management theorist who
developed a model of organizational effectiveness based on the concept of congruence.
According to Eisenhart, an organization is effective when there is a high degree of congruence
between its strategy, structure, and people. In other words, the people who work for the
organization need to be aligned with its goals and the way it operates in order for it to be
successful. In the context of virtualization technology, this means that the corporation needs to
carefully consider how it uses this technology to achieve its goals while also ensuring that its
employees are able to adapt to the changes it brings. This may involve providing training and
support for employees as they learn to work with new technology, as well as creating a culture of
innovation and continuous learnin.
Santos, an Australian oil and gas company, redesigned their intranet to address problems with the previous system like a lack of governance over content, inadequate search functionality, and a misaligned information culture. The new solution included developing an information management framework, providing training to content publishers, redesigning the navigation system based on user card sorting, improving the search functionality, engaging business users, and mapping out how information would be organized and shared on the new intranet. Lessons learned included not reinventing existing solutions, the importance of communication, aligning the intranet with company culture, and providing training for users.

The document discusses the need for an organization map technology framework for big data. It notes that while small-scale data architectures exist, there is no extensive reference architecture available currently. It proposes that an organization map technology framework could help organizations map their technology to functions and processes to better understand, manage and define large volumes of data. The framework would help address issues of information asymmetry that currently exist between different parts of supply chains due to a lack of interoperable data. It provides an example of information asymmetry between small coffee farmers and roasters due to data incompatibility issues.

Chris Jones, Director of Product Management at BrainChip , presents the “Temporal Event Neural Networks: A More Efficient Alternative to the Transformer” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
The expansion of AI services necessitates enhanced computational capabilities on edge devices. Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.
Integration with BrainChip’s Akida neuromorphic hardware IP further enhances TENNs’ capabilities, enabling the realization of highly capable, portable and passively cooled edge devices. This presentation delves into the technical innovations underlying TENNs, presents real-world benchmarks, and elucidates how this cutting-edge approach is positioned to revolutionize edge AI across diverse applications.
zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

» Salesforce vs intranet gaps
Salesforce has a lot of great social collaboration functionality, but there are certain gaps between this functionality
and a more traditional «intranet functionality». Most important are:
» No front page – Chatter is all about feeds and push notifications. We have the need to have an
intranet front page, where editors can sort and select top news and articles and where we can have
links to important functionality (both within Salesforce and external systems) in addition to be able
to show important metrics (e.g. dashboard components for total sales etc.)
» Lack of news and article functionality - While Chatter is all about posting status
updates, questions and attachments, we needed a place to post more traditional, longer texts, e.g.
management news and updates that could contain pictures, links and other elements within the
same article.
» Lack of placeholders for static content – Our company have a wide variety of static content, e.g.
routines for bug handling, travel expense guidelines, HR policies etc. We needed functionality to
store this (not as documents and attachments), but rather static HTML pages (“Articles”) in a tree
structure based on departments (e.g. Sales, Admin, F&A etc.)
» Missing blog functionality – Related to the above, we want to empower employees and
departments to produce more extensive content than Chatter updates allow.
5. How do we improve collaboration and
communication in QuestBack? CORPORATE INTRANET 5
» Guiding Principles
» Native Salesforce
The Intranet should be built on native Salesforce technology without the need for third
party systems or licenses. Standard functionality should be used as far as it is possible.
Custom objects and Visual force pages should be the backbone of the design. Exception
made for rich text editor (FCKEditor)
» Less is more!
Lessions from the assessment of existing content in the old intranets indicates that
~80% of the content is outdated. In order to avoid this, all content now have a validity of
6 months before it gets archived unless the content is updated/verified by a Content
Owner.
» Relevance, relevance, relevance!
All content (Aricles and news) is tagged with meta data to identify relevance based on
Position and where the users geographic office location. This information is used to
make all sections of the intranet relevant; Front page news, menu selections etc. In
addition, Chatter groups are used to communicate with employees in similar positions
globally.

8. How do we improve collaboration and
communication in QuestBack? CORPORATE INTRANET 8
» Challenge
As a result of multiple mergers, QuestBack currently operates four different Intranets with a wide
range of challenges:
» Documents are spread on emails, file servers and intranets
» Documents are now added and maintained in country specific libraries with extensive
meta data for easy filtering. File servers are shut down.
» No complete People directory in the company
» All employees now have a Salesforce license, complete people directory
» Few updates from management
» Management can now do regular Chatter posts or longer blog posts when needed
» Outdated and “detached” information
» 6 months validity of any content, information now seen in the context of CRM
(Customers, Opportunities, Content, Campaigns etc.)
» Employees finds it hard to contribute to the content
» Barriers lowered with Chatter groups and status updates
» “Yet another system” where you need to log in and pay attention
» Four separate systems are removed, only need to log into Salesforce
» Too few fun and simple “wow factors”
» People Directory, CRM Content, Chatter groups and live dashboards are perceived as
«wow factors»
» «Zero budget» project
» Salesforce development investment ~70% cheaper than alternatives
(EPIServer, Sharepoint etc)
9. How do we improve collaboration and
communication in QuestBack? CORPORATE INTRANET 9
» Challenges
We still see some challenges with implementing a full-scale intranet and collaboration platform on
Salesforce.com:
» Lack of Chatter support for Partner Portal users
We have a large number of Partner Portal users (franchisees) that needs to be part of our socail collaboration. As
the Partner Portal is not Chatter enabled, we need to provide two licenses for our Partners and they need to log
out, log in and move back and forth.
» Lack of custom fields on Chatter profile
As we want to build a rich and searchable people directory, we would like to be able to add custom fields (e.g.
skype name, certifications etc) to peoples chatter profiles.
» Need richer functionality in Chatter Groups
There is a huge potential for developing functionality in the Chatter groups further. Examples are project
management functionality (Gantt diagrams, tasks, events etc.), functionality for longe/richer texts (i.e. blog posts)
» Salesforce Documents as container for images is not an ideal solution
We currently use Documents to store images for the editor. The interface and structure of this section is pretty
«old fashioned» and makes maintaining images for the News/Articles sub-otpimal.
