ST.ART ad EDEN Conference
The ST.ART project aimed to increase students' awareness and understanding of street art through an innovative virtual learning environment. Over six months, 177 students and 20 teachers from 5 schools participated in e-learning courses and activities in the 3D virtual world of Metropolis. Students developed projects and engaged in discussions around street art. Teachers played an active role by guiding students through the online materials and activities. While language barriers posed some challenges, the project helped foster collaborative learning among students and cross-curricular skills.

Brandeis NOW_Brandeis in Siena offers an abroad experience in the arts
Thirteen Brandeis students participated in the university's first study abroad program in Siena, Italy during the summer of 2015. The program was developed by Associate Professor Joseph Wardwell who was looking for a location with a strong art history culture. Siena was chosen for its vibrant cultural life centered around the Palio horse race and proximity to major art cities like Florence. Students took painting and art history courses taught by Brandeis and Siena Art Institute faculty, connecting what they learned in the classroom to the art they observed around Siena. Students immersed themselves in the local culture and formed strong bonds with the community in just a few short weeks. The small program size allowed for an intimate study abroad experience

Shaping music into bi and tree dimensional forms LS RO1

The Brandeis in Siena art program is a 5-week study abroad opportunity based in Siena, Italy. Students take art history and studio art classes taught in English at the Siena Art Institute. They learn about Renaissance art through visiting original works in Siena and nearby cities like Florence. The small program size fostered close relationships between the 12 students. They immersed themselves not only in Italian culture through experiences like witnessing the Palio horse race, but also found a supportive community of fellow art enthusiasts. Both students and professors felt being in Italy surrounded by Renaissance art provided an invaluable educational experience compared to online or classroom study.
