3. Internet
• The Internet, sometimes called simply “The Net," is a worldwide
system of computer networks - a network of networks in which
users at any one computer can, if they have permission, get
information from any other computer (and sometimes talk directly
to users at other computers).

4. Network
• A network is a collection of computers, servers, mainframes,
network devices, peripherals, or other devices connected to one
another to allow the sharing of data. An excellent example of a
network is The Internet, which connects millions of people all over
the world. Below is an example image of a home network with
multiple computers and other network devices all connected to
each other and the Internet.

5. History of Internet
• The Internet first came about in February 1958 in America.
• A man named J.C.R. Licklide saw universal networking as a potential unifying
revolution.
• Leonard Kleinrock at MIT published the first paper on packets switching theory
in July 1961 and the first book on the subject in 1964.
• The Internet began to grow rapidly in the 1970’s as the knowledge of the
networking was growing more and more rapidly.

6. • The general public gained access to the internet on july 16,1986 when the first
freenet came on line in Cleveland in the U.S.
• Between 1987 and 1988 the number of hosts increased from 10k to 60k
• With the development of the world wide web(WWW) in 1991, there was no
stopping the rapid expansion of the internet

The internet is treated as one of the biggest invention. It has a large number of

4) Information at various levels of study. Everything from scholarly
articles to ones directed at children.
5) Message boards where people can discuss ideas on any topic.
Ability to get wide range of opinions. People can find others that
have a similar interest in whatever they are interested in.

9. 6) The internet provides the ability of emails. Free mail service to anyone in the
country.
7) Platform for products like SKYPE, which allow for holding a video conference
with anyone in the world who also has access.
8) Things such as Google and other sites where kids can have readily available
help for homework.
9) News, of all kinds is available almost instantaneously. Commentary, on that
news, from every conceivable viewpoint is also available.

10. Dis-advantages of Internet
1) There is a lot of wrong information on the internet. Anyone can post
anything, and much of it is garbage.
2) Easy to waste a lot of time on the internet
3) Internet has a lot of "cheater" sites and Hackers can create viruses that can
get into your personal computer and ruin valuable data
4) Using too much of internet increase health related issues
