Introduction
 Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the physical
network of “things” that are embedded with
sensors, electronics, software and connectivity
to enable data exchange between the devices
and the operator or the manufacturer.
 “Things” in IoT can be a person, an automobile,
a smart device, anything and everything that
are uniquely identified by IP address assigned
to them.
Introduction
 IoT would offers advanced connectivity among
devices, systems and services incorporating
variety of protocols, domains and applications.
 Interconnection of various devices through IoT
would deliver automation in almost every field
it is integrated in.
Trends
 Following are the latest trends in IoT :
 Intelligence – devices with embedded system can take
decisions by themselves and transfer the data over
internet without human efforts.
 Dynamic Architecture – system architecture would be
decided based on the context of the events itself and
would not be pre-deterministic.
 Object Traceability – geographical location and
dimensions of every person or smart device connected in
IoT would be traceable at any time.
 “A Basket of Remotes” – remove need for different
remotes for different appliances that are connected to IoT
and control the devices with a central system.
Trends
 Intelligence is a promising trend as IoT in future
may be non-deterministic in nature and would
require intelligent devices to make their decisions
on their own about transferring data over
network.
 Central Remote is another trend that would
definitely make a major impact as more and
more devices are being controlled remotely and
using multiple remotes for different devices
would be a cumbersome and useless practice.
Interest Areas
 Among the various areas covered under IoT
such as smart devices, health care, smart cities,
energy management, transportation, ambient
intelligence, manufacturing, environmental
monitoring my interest areas are Ambient
Intelligence and Energy Management.
 If I am offered internship I would like to work on
Ambient Intelligence i.e. Home Automation and
Central Remote Control System.
Thank you
