2. Introduction
O Internet of Things is the network of our
day to day things embedded with
electronics and connectivity that help us in
making our life better and easier.
O It has helped us in using modern
technology in even the most basics of the
things used in our daily life making it work
more efficiently. We can connect the
devices to the network and use the data
received as real time data which can be
very helpful in certain cases.
3. O The connected devices outnumber the
humans by a factor of 1.5 so it clearly
shows that this field has a lot of scope of
development and proper application of
this technology can help improve the
quality of life by medical and
infrastructural advancements.
4. Trends
O The world is developing at a very fast
pace and so is technology. So it has
become important that the devices built
have the ability to adapt to the time.
O Moreover, the best part is that a lot of
basic devices are being built for solving
our day to day life problems and internet
of things has been of a great help in that.
Now even a refrigerator can tell when we
need to pick up the items from the
departmental store.
5. O Now if any of our vitals are not normal, the
recorded data of our vitals can be
immediately and automatically sent to the
doctor and prompt actions can be taken.
O It has helped to make life easier by using
technology in the right way.
6. Interest Areas
O I personally believe that we can make
great advancement in the medical field
with the help of internet of things.
O We could attach a tiny sensor on the
patient’s body which could measure his
heart beat constantly and as the rate
would cross a threshold value, wirelessly
and automatically the nurses could be
alerted. And in many more ways this
technology can be used to better the
condition of the sick.
7. O Also we can implement ways to improve
the road safety as well. Like the same
heart rate monitor can be attached to the
driver in the car so that if he is drowsy or
accidently falls asleep while driving, the
heart rate will change and this will trigger
an alarm alerting the driver. And if the
driver doesn’t wakes up, the message can
be transmitted to the police. It can also be
very helpful during an accident as the
heart condition of the victim will change
and the police will be informed of his
location and his life can be saved. So if
given an internship opportunity, this is the
area I would like to work on.
