This session will look at challenges related to free speech online. We will address restrictions to freedom of expression from technological challenges (filters, surveillance techniques, blocking access to websites) to the introduction of new laws that curb digital freedom. We will also cover the increasing trend of takedown requests, the phenomenon of privatisation of censorship as well as threats, intimidation and violence against citizen journalists and bloggers. Through detailed case studies, participants will have the opportunity to explore the various implications of online censorship for media freedom. Case studies will include examples from countries such as Azerbaijan, Turkey, Belarus, India and Brazil.

Future of value of data interim summary aug 2018-compressedFuture Agenda
How will data be valued in the future and what are the key implications? What will this mean for business, for society and for individuals around the world? Ahead of the final expert workshops in the 2018 future value of data project, this is an interim summary of key insights to date.
This detailed presentation covers 7 areas:
Scope of Project
What is Data?
Areas of Agreement
Issues of Debate
Regionally Specific Topics
Questions on Value
Next Steps
To complete the research, over the next two months we will host more expert workshops across Europe and the Americas plus two more in Asia.
We will then prepare a synthesis of all the different expert views we have heard and, as with all our projects, share a global report for open use by all.
If you would like to be involved in the upcoming events, do let us know.
This presentation explores how the blockchain ecosystem is developing to support a vibrant data economy,. We look at issues of why data quality matters, how AI needs trusted data, and how massive investment is coming into the blockchain-powered data economy. We also look at key ways blockchain is enabling innovation in the consumer data economy.. We examine how two major tech companies are taking action in blockchain, and suggest things that any company can do now.
The rise of privacy & personal data in the IT business - Claudia JeleaITCamp
They say personal data is the currency driving this digital and interconnected world we live in. And mobile and cloud definitely reshape things. So the business of the future should learn how to build trust and create user-centered data strategies.
This interactive session will explore and try to give a few answers to questions like:
• Should IT businesses care about privacy & personal data?
• Do security and privacy walk hand in hand in the cloud?
• Is it relevant for a mobile developer to have the right privacy model?
• Do you embed privacy in your IT app development?
• Is there any real need for privacy & cookie policy in the digital world?

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

The History
“[the Internet] is inherently
extra-national, inherently anti-
sovereign and your [states’]
sovereignty cannot apply to
us. We’ve got to figure things
out ourselves.”
John Perry Barlow, 1996
Things have changed…
6. Gergana Petrova | 7 November 2018 !6
• Social norms worked well in the beginning of the Internet
• Self-regulation still works in a group with strong community
ties, by applying peer pressure or exclusion (e.g. Wikipedia)
• ISPs try to self-regulate by imposing standards of behaviour
for their customers
• Should ISPs make decisions in lieu of legal authorities?
Should they judge what is acceptable content?
• Self-regulation doesn’t always work, e.g. IoT market
Self-regulation

Definitions
“Internet governance (IG) is the development and
application by governments, the private sector and
civil society, in their respective roles, of shared
principles, norms, rules, decision-making procedures,
and programmes that shape the evolution and use
of the Internet.”
World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), 2005

Main Principles for Policy Making
• Promote the open, distributed and
interconnected nature of the Internet
- Maintain technological neutrality
• Encourage multi-stakeholder co-operation in
policy development processes
• Ensure transparency, fair process, and
accountability
• See NetMundial, OECD, Council of Europe,
etc.

10. Gergana Petrova | 7 November 2018 !10
What are the dilemmas?
Internet
hasn’t introduced
anything new to
governance. Our
rights haven’t
changed.
Existing laws
can be applied with
minor
amendments.
The Internet is a
fundamentally different
communication system,
separated from
geographical reality.
Cyberspace is
different than real
space and requires a
new form of
governance.
11. Gergana Petrova | 7 November 2018 !11
Centralised vs Decentralised Views
We want a one-
stop-shop for IG issues
preferably within an
international
organisation
Small
countries have
limited human and
financial resources to
follow IG
discussions
We want a multi-
stakeholder approach
The Internet is
too complex to be
placed under single
governance umbrella
or organisation
